Arrival
1) Get you and your stuff to the departures hall at the same time
1a) Make sure you have a name tag on the outside and inside of all luggage items
Check in
2) Checking yourself in
2a) Buy a ticket if you don't have one or help them find your record in the system if you already bought a ticket
2b) Choose a seat (it might cost more to sit in an exit row or other "better" seat)
2c) Check your bags (you'll only be allowed on bag and one "personal item" in the cabin of the plane with you...everything else needs a barcoded tag)
2d) Leave checkin with your boarding pass for yourself and claim tickets for any bag you had
Security
3) Proceed to security & show your boarding pass and a photo ID to begin. Note that in the US, no liquid containers of more than 3 ounces will be permitted through (so no bottled soda/water)
3b) Go through the scanning: In the US this means separating 3 things out: your shoes off your feet, any liquids must fit in a 1 quart bag, and any laptop must be out of its bag. Also you'll take off any outer layers (vest, jacket, etc.) These will be x-rayed
3c) You will pass through a metal detector and will need your boarding pass
3d) Be nice, never joke about bombs, collect your stuff and put yourself back to gether.
Boarding
4) Proceed to the gate. Check the departures board (usually a monitor) for your destination city, your airline, your flight # to get your gate
4a) At the gate, you may be asked to board by row #, or by boarding group (which will be on your boarding pass)
4b) Board with your group. Put one thing overhead and one thing under the seat in front of you. Buckle up. Read the safety information card. Make a phone call but then turn off your cellphone when told.
5) Enjoy your flight. |

you go to the baggage checkin for your flight (usair, american airlines etc)
they weigh your luggage, tag it then send it down the belt and then u show ur id and ticket or they have little pc's there if u bought ur ticket online and are picking it up there.
then u go to the gate listed on ur ticket.
before u hit ur gate, u go through security...they make u empty ur pockets and take ur shoes off.
if your bag looks suspicious, they pull u to the side and feel u up and search ur bag with a metal detector. my daughters bag of toys came up looking odd so thats what happened to me.
then u grab ur things back and go wait at ur gate.
here is a trick i learned and do...
dont buy first class tickets online or anything....dont ever pay full price.
i fly a lot and everytime im at my gate waiting, they call out, 'we have extra empty first class seats available which u can exchange your coach ticket in for only $100.
beats paying an extra 500-1000 bucks!!! |

1- Get your boarding pass (if you haven't already printed it online) and drop off luggage at the counter.
2- Go through customs.
3- Go to your gate.
4- Get on plane.
Things to remember/pay attention to:
No liquids/knives/blades in cabin luggage. Don't exceed maximum amount of luggage weight allowed (or pay for each kg you have in excess). Do not forget your passport. |

Start: First thing you do in airport is get boarding pass - NO - Print out your boarding pass at home the night before. If you did not do this, go to an automated kiosk to print out a boarding pass there.
Check your bag if you are foolish enough to not fit everything you need into a carry on bag.
Make sure your water bottle is empty.
Go and wait in line at security.
Eventually get through security
Fill up your water bottle at a water fountain or in a rest room.
Try to find someplace that sells food to go in the airport because they do not have meals aboard many flights anymore.
Find your boarding gate.
Go to the washroom so it will be less likely that you will need to go when airborne.
Go wait some more at the gait
Try not to fall asleep before your flight is called.
When they start to board your zone, get up and wait in line some more.
Hope you are not one of the unlucky ones selected for secondary security inspection
End: Board the plane |

When you get to the airport you want to go to the proper counter. For example, you may be flying on Northwest Airlines but when you get inside the airport you will see signs for American Airlines, Southwest, Spirit, etc. You take your identification and baggage to the check in counter, they will give you the boarding pass, then you go thru security, find your gate, wait for them to board you and then you get on the plane. It's easy breezy and there are always people to help if you can't find your way. Good luck and have a safe trip! |

Get to the airport at LEAST three hours before your flight.
1. Obtain your boarding pass either at the ticket counter (look for the company you're flying with, then go in with your information) or by checking in online and printing your pass the night before (recommended). To check in online, go to said company's website and enter in your information.
2. Check any bags you may have. If you're checking in in person, this is the time to do that. If you checked in online, there will be a shorter line at the ticket counter specifically for online check-ins and their bags.
3. Go through security. There are signs explaining what you need to do, but go ahead and take off your shoes, jacket, and remove any metal (cheap jewelry doesn't usually count) and electronics. Put everything in one (or more) of the bins. If you have a laptop on you, you'll have to put it in the bin outside of its bag without anything on top of it. Walk through security, and if all goes well, collect your things. You may be detained for more searching, but if you got to the airport early enough, you'll be fine.
4. Proceed to your gate (on your boarding pass, such as "A49"). The concourses are given letters and it should be straight forward how to get there. If you're confused, ask someone. After that, look at the signs to see which way the gate numbers are going (either up or down) and proceed to the gate that matches the number on your boarding pass.
5. Wait until boarding is called.
6. Board the plane by giving an attendant your boarding pass. |

These it depends whether you booked online or not. If you booked online then you get processed electronically so broadly speaking it's quicker. Baggage in boarding pass out and head for security and the gate. Otherwise it's a queue at the check in desk job. |

Walk through a couple metal detectors
You find the gate that leads to your plane
You usually wait a couple minutes before the plane is ready to go
END:Board the plane |
