No. In a vacuum there is no lift generated, so an aircraft would plummet to the ground.

All the instruments, engines, etc are only working with an air pressure of (normally) above 500 hectopascal (half a bar).
Actually, nothing can fly in a vacuum, because of the word's definition. To fly, you need the lift force, which can only occur in matter; like gases or fluids. |

No dummy! If they did, we'd be flying planes into outer space, not rockets.
Theory: Planes fly by generating lift from the movement of air particles. The wings are designed to cause air above the wing to move faster than the air below the wing
This difference in speed generates lift, which allows the plane to fly.
Now since you need air to do this little bit of 'magic', and since vacuum does not have 'air', thus planes cannot fly in vacuum.
Now I hope u're a 12 yr ol kid, coz I thot they taught this in school. |
