Yes, you can..........just put it in the tray along with your laptop when going through security.

You can and you should. Never leave valuables in the luggage where they could be stolen or broken. It will still have to be checked for security purposes.

Yes, and you should. You should keep all the most valuable things with you in your carry on luggage. Baggage handlers just throw your luggage around... and some open up the luggage looking for loot... like a camera. Sometimes, your checked luggage can just get LOST.

Keep the expensive stuff with you at all times!

Of course, and remember..pack ALL your valuables in your carry on. (This goes for medications too). Travel Tip: In your carry on pack one days clothing appropriate for the weather at your destination (along with your toiletries*), that way you have a change of clothes should your luggage be "delayed".

*remember only 3 ounce bottles in a ziplock bag.
