in your suit case yes, i don't know about in your carry on bag, but you wouldn't need it at hand anyway because you have nowhere to plug it in

Yes. Just be sure the plane you're flying on has the same voltage as your straightener (if you're planning to use it on the plane), or you could damage it (the straightener, not the plane).
