You are allowed to bring food. The food on aeroplanes are tiny little portions, so definately bring some. You could bring a few sandwiches or cooked pasta etc. Anything that will be okay to eat cold. Have a great trip!

augustina
What kind of food are you wanting to take? Call the airline and ask them for options. Mention something about having to have 3-4 meals every 2 hours or else you will die. It'll convince them. Usually you can bring anything you want to eat but with strict security now a days.. they limit a sandwhich and nothing to drink. =/

You can buy full meals on the plane. i just got back from a trip yesterday and they arent too expensive. however i did bring my own food on the plane and yes we were allowed to eat it. as long as its in a closed container then it is okay. you are not allowed to bring liquid though, so you have to buy a drink on the plane. hope you have fun in italy!

JUST_ANOTHER_TWIGGY
im not sure ive never flown overseas but i do no that when i went to las vegsas from Minnesota we were not alowd to bring food on to the airline from minnesota to there .. but on the way back home from las vegas we were alowd..it all just depends on the pilot.. they will tell u b4 u aboard

Tbone
Should not be a problem. I always bring food aboard.

Depends on the food.

Beverages brought from outside of the checkpoint are not really allowed.

Things like pudding, jelly, mashed potatoes, butter, etc... will fall under the gells and pastes rule and will not be allowed. (3oz or less)

If you are traveling with a child, or have a medical condition it will help you.

Flower Girl
Yes you can bring your own food, as long as it fits in your carry on and is not a liquid.

It needs to fit in your carry on and you can' t take liquid through the check point. I believe that you can bring on water/soda/juice/milk that you purchase after security though. We flew recently cross-country with our twins. We had two small ice packs and a small lunch sized cooler that we put milk in. We also had a small thing of spreadable cheese for us and some crackers. Coming back, we purchased salads for each of us and sodas which we carried on. Enjoy!

i flew to italy on british airways. u can bring ur own food.

Depends on the pilot. I bring food when I go to Europe and they are fine with it and I don't like the food on the airline that we go on when we go to Europe so I bring my own snacks and stuff but there drinks are fine but for some reason in Europe they have sweeter soda its weird

Have fun in Italy!!

tushanna_m
British Airways from where? If US, yes food is OK: just no liquids can pass through the security checkpoint. You can still buy liquids (water/soda) inside the terminals and take on the plane too. It's a good idea to bring at least snacks. Heck, bring a whole picnic basket if you can pack it. With the way these airlines are acting lately you could be stuck on a runway or in the terminal with nothing to eat for weeks.

Amber
Yes, you can def. bring your own stuff to snack on.

YES, to bringing food! Liquids can be brought in too if they were purchased in the terminal. As far as I know, meals or complimentary snacks and drinks are served throughout the day. (check the link below)

gromit801
Most airports and TSA's only allow you to bring food and drink onboard that is purchased at the airport, AFTER the security check area.

lauren s
sodas/juices/milk are free so don't take these. salads & sandwiches are good. pls don't take mcdonalds or anything greasy like that which reeks in the whole plane...

Viva La Eire!
interesting fact on airlines skimping on food:
an American airline saved $40000 in a year by taking out one olive out of every salad from first class!!!

anyway, back to the question, i think so, my dad was planning on bringing food with him one time but he didnt, cant remember why but it wasn't cause he wasn't allowed!!, if your really unsure just ring the airport and they will tell you!

good l;uck and have a nice holiday!!, where you going?
