Can you carry a mini-snowglobe on an airplane?

With the new security rules are you still able to carry a snowglobe on the airplane? I will be flying out of LAX.

It is small, only a few inches tall, and there is a little bit of water in the globe. I wasn't sure if it could be carried on or not, but I am pretty sure it will break if I check it.

Does anyone know, or has anyone been able to do this?

Thanks

You can call TSA and they will tell you whether or not you can take it but be prepared to be on hold forever. www.tsa.gov
4 ounces of some liquids are allowed but I don't know if this would qualify. Or if you decide to mail it check out a mailing place such as MailBoxes etc.. or such. They are "experts" in packing and I am sure could pack it for you to avoid breakage.
PS.....to some answerers...there is no need to get nasty, this is a legitimate question.

Are you serious?!

Is this what the world has come to?!

What are you going to do with it, cut it open and poke someone's eye out with the piece of glass or plastic...

Anyways, on a more serious note, if there's liquid in it, I guess you can't...to make sure, why not call the airport and ask?

They aren't going to let you get on the plane with it. If it's that special, I wouldn't even try because you will have to leave it at the check point. I agree with the guy who said to ship it. The post office has plenty of packing things to get it to your destination safely. I know this because I have several very special snow globes and I had to ship them from Calilfornia to Ohio. They made it safely.

the only way you will be able to do it is if you dump the water. we have been having people get rid of key chain snow globes. the best thing you can do is pack it in bubble wrap in put it in you checked bag

They aren't going to let you carry that thing on and it wouldn't be worth the trouble to try. They have already released the warning about "no liquids". The safest way to get it back to your home is to just ship is separately.

I'd have to agree with Mr. Boz -- pack it up really carefully and mail it. Generally speaking, the US Postal Service is a lot more careful handling packages and personal belongings than the baggage handlers at the airport, especially if you mark the box "fragile." If you must bring it with you to present to someone in person, wrap it in plenty of bubble wrap, then inside a plastic sack just in case it still breaks so all your clothes don't get soaked with mineral oil, place it in your checked luggage, and say a quick prayer to... St. Christopher? He protects travellers, but I'm not sure his department covers tchotchkes.... Good luck!

If you are afraid it will break, leave it at home.

What part of 'NO LIQUIDS' don't you understand.

You may pack it in you checked luggage. However, you are inviting a little peek from the checked baggage screener. To limit breakage, put it in a plastic bag. Wrat the bag in bubble-wrap. Put that in a small box, don't seal. Wrap in a soft towel. Put in the center of checked baggage.
