It depends--was it a non refundable ticket? It also depends on the circumstances as to why you had to cancel the ticket. If it's a full fare ticket, you can get a refund, but you have to let them know why you are needing that refund.
A discounted ticket will be harder to get any money back from. Is it possible for you to change the dates of travel? Some will charge you approx. 50.00 to change it (depending on the discount) and then some won't let you change them at all.
Best thing to do is call the airline and see what can be done.

depends on the airline... i know southwest will refund it, if it was cancelled within 2 days.... otherwise, the airline will just give you a ticket vouchure for the next time you travel.... call the airline to be sure.... not many options with this one... sorry, but i hope this helps :)
