Absolutely. But remember that most planes now have music on board on multiple channels and if you have headphones or ear buds you can just plug in. There is no interference from an MP3 or I-pod, though.

Yes, you can. But you can be asked to switch that off while take off and landing.

It may be different on some airplanes but i have flown Jetblue and American Airlines and they both let you.
