Can you sit anywhere on an airplane?

Like for a school trip.

If you ever been one do they...

1)let you sit anywhere
2)do you sit with strangers
3)does the teacher decide who your going to be sitting next to

Or if you been on a school trip and had to fly on an airplane what did they do?

Most airlines have assigned seats. The airlines like you to be in your assigned seat for takeoff and landing - you are most likely to crash during takeoff and landing and being in the correct seat makes it easier to identify the bodies.

Once the seat belt sign is off you can move to a vacant seat or do a swap with someone else so you can sit near friends (unless the teacher has other ideas).

Most airlines treat the school bookings as a group...meaing they will allocate all group members together...unless the teacher/s in charge advises the airlines prior to departure to seat certian people together...have fun :)

1) It sometimes cost more money for you to sit where you want or they pick it for you

2) Yes most of the time you do. It isn't bad tho.

3) Most likely but I am not sure

Generally one are allocate a seat, they're printed on the boarding pass. If the Aircraft has unoccupied seats, its always good to make a request to the Flight Attendant for changed of seat after the aircraft is airborned and the 'Fasten Your Seat belt Sign' is off. I'm sure the attendant will be happy enough to oblige.

One seat in the aircraft is to be careful of is the toilet seats. Ensure to get up/off the seat after use before flushing. Flushing while being seated can land one in a very embarrasing sititutation. The user may get sucked by the seat and remain there until the aircraft has landed and parked. Your meal and other services will be served there.

Bon Voyage.

when I was in 8th grade our class flew from california to alaska. We had assigned seats, but most of us got to sit by fellow students because there were so many of us. But, from what I understand you usually always get assigned seats, if you want to change your seat just get to the terminal early and ask if there are other seats available. They might have another empty seat. But really its up to your teacher since you're going with a class...

It depends on the airline. If you're flying Southwest, you can sit anywhere you want. If you're flying some other airline, you have assigned seats, but if you're on a school trip, your teacher most likely requested seats that are near each other so you will all be together.

When flying on an air plane Usually you'll have a ticket with the seat already for you but if it's not crowded then you can usually ask to sit in a different seat and will be granted permission.

just because you are on a school trip does not mean that you are different from every other passenger on the aircraft.

The airline - 90% of the time; will sit the whole group together, or as close as they can. The teachers or supervisors have no control over who sits next to who as your boarding pass has your name and your seat number on it. you must sit in your designated seat on take off (although not everyone does)

but once the plane gets into the air, anyone can swap with anyone. I wouldnt go 3 rows down to sit with a stranger, but nothing is stopping you from changing seats.

I have been on two school trips from Australia to Japan. SO we were on Jumbo Jets (boeing 747's) on all of my flights. On the way home the second time, the airline tried to get us close together but we ended up scatterd over 10 rows (there were 12 of us)

so in short -

Q1) You must sit where the boarding pass says until after the seatbelt sign turns off

Q2) sometimes, but the airline tries their best to sit all groups together

Q3) no, teachers have no control of where the airline seats you.

and teachers seem to be more relaxed on flights anyway :)

On you ticket there's a number that corresponds to a specific seat. If you going with a school I'm sure they booked you all in the same section but there's always a chance you may have to sit next to someone you don't know, that's half the fun of air travel. You have to sit in the seat that your ticket says or you can switch with someone else just don't let you teachers see or they might be stupid about it.

I just came back from a school trip to Korea.
We booked as a group so we were all sitting in one area. That was good. But if you dont fly as a group you can not change where you are sitting. The airline assigns you to a seat and it is very rare if they allow you to change on the plane. They also identify you by what seat you are sitting in in case of an emergency or other reason.
