Can you take batteries on an airplane? |
My boyfriend is going on an Alaskan cruise with his family in June. He wants to take my digital camera. Can he take the batteries on the plane with him or would he have to buy them when he lands?? Would it be better to take a disposable camera? Thanks!! (P.S. It's just regular AA batteries). |

Due to FAA regulations, you may not bring any battery in your hand bag but then I would highly recommend you to consult with your airline prior to placing it anywhere. |

yes. i've flown 3 times in the last 8 months, and all 3 times i had AA batts in my carry on, and they didn't say anything. |

With a regular camera, he will need to get some batteries so that it will work well because a digital camera only uses a chip
and not a battery. |

You can but they must be in your carry on. They must be in the original packaging or have the battery terminals sufficiently covered. I think there may be some restrictions on lithium batteries per specific airlines. Check their website. |

um it depends on the airline and destination
why dont you check the official site of the airline |

Effective January 1, 2008, you may not pack spare lithium batteries in your checked baggage.
You may pack spare lithium batteries in your carry-on baggage. Please see our Spare Battery Tips and How-To sections to find out how to pack spare batteries safely!
If you pack a device containing batteries, secure it against activation by locking the activation switch in the "off" position, placing the device in a protective case, or by other appropriate measures.
For personal use, there is generally no restriction on the number of spare batteries allowed in carry-on baggage. This is the case for cell phone batteries, "hearing aid" button cells, and AA batteries/AAA batteries available in retail stores, as well as almost all standard laptop computer batteries.
See "Larger Batteries" to find out about more powerful batteries, such as extended-life "universal batteries" and batteries designed for professional audio-visual applications. |
