Can you take pictures on a plane?

I'm a former Flight Attendant and I've taken many photos for people on planes. Groups and families especially like recording every minute of their adventure. I've taken pictures of my children on airplanes myself.

During take-off and landing, you should turn off all electronical products so technically speaking, you shouldn't be snapping away during those times. A lot of people "get away" with this since the Flight Attendants are strapped into their seats and can't see what everyone's up to.

It was annoying when involuntary upgrades started taking pictures on the service in First or Business. Keep photos of people and your personal area. No one will stop you but try to be discrete and let the other passengers enjoy their meal without fear they'll be posted on somewhere on the net.

Also be aware that at some airports, it's forbidden to take pictures of their "operations". They wont jump on you for getting a shot of you and your friend in the waiting area but avoid taking pictures of the aircrafts being loaded, etc. These could, in theory, be used by terrorists for planning purposes.

On board, once the seatbelt sign goes off, if taking a flash photo wont distrub anyone, go for it. Obviously, avoid flash photos on a night flight when people are sleeping and on a personal note, take all photos at the start of your flight. Otherwise, you may not like the results, especially if it's at the end of a long journey!

Yeah. But it might be too dark. And if you use flash it might startle people.

yes you can take a camera on a plane. You can go on youtube with people recording videos of them taking off or landing. Its completly fine and wont give you trouble.

but if you can turn the flash off and open the window for light so the people around you wont get too annoyed :)

You can also take video recordings.

A flash on your camera is not permitted at night though.

It is illegal to take photos or recordings of people without their permission so please make sure you dont upset anyone.

You absolutely can do this! I've taken many photos on airplanes, and also made little videos.

The only consequence is that your neighbors in the near seats may look at you funny after the flash goes off, and think you are weird for taking pictures on airplanes! :)
