Can you take "outside" food on a flight?

like a jar of peanuts, bag of chips, or M&m's, that you brought from home?

yes you can... i take food all the time for my kids who never eat on the plane.. either cos they don't like the food or they're sleeping.
I carry sandwiches, cookies, chips, chocolates many times and never been asked to remove them.
Just remember not to take any liquids more than 3 ounces/100 ml on the plane.
With the things you mentioned no need to worry about carrying them.

yes u can such as sandwich or other things

Jimbo
Yes, you can.

You just can't take drinks (the no-liquids rule).

silentnonrev
sure, everything except liquids! (and if you are familiar with it--durian).

Skybus prohibited this, because they wanted you to buy their overpriced sandwiches...but they are gone...

Yes you can take any 'outside' food on a plane, It's tastes a lot better than the food the airline gives you so I recommend you do.
There are a few airlines which you can buy pringles and other food on, that tastes ok too...

he only things you can't take is something that will be against quarantine... but there is a special bin the drop that in on the other side.

haggerpotter
yes you can take food that is packaged. if you are going on an international flight you cannot bring foods such as fruit/veggies/meat etc. basically anything that can carry bugs or parasites. but chips and peanuts etc. feel free. as long as they are not in liquid form :-p

Sunshine
you can't take ANY drinks with you but you can take bag of chips and m&ms but the peanuts i don't think you should because people could be allergic and well i don't think i need to say much more

I don't think you're allowed to bring "outside" food on a flight technically, but I think you can just sneak them in, provided the food doesn't have a strong smell that can distract other passengers, or food that's not gonna get messy when you eat them.

I think the food items you've listed are OK. It's not like the stewardess gonna sit next to you and watch you eat, right?

If they do, be nice and offer them some, maybe? I bet they can't resist it.
