Can you travel alone on an airplane at age 15 or 16?

I'm just wondering if a 15 or 16 yr old can travel on a plane without a parent or guardian? Thank you.
Additional Details
Also, in your opinion what is the safest airplane company?

Of course - I flew alone from the age of three =]

The world's safest airline is technically Qantas. For comfort, I'm very partial to Air France, but nearly anything (aside from American) is bearable.

-haley. (:
yes.

i don't have an opinion on the safest airline company, they are all pretty equal if you ask me.

Yes I did when I was seven. Someone 18 or older has to buy the ticket for you. U.S Airways

Yes you can if you or your parents are uncomfortable with you riding alone without them you can get an attendant to look after you on the flight

:)
im pretty sure you can call your airline and make sure before you buy the ticket

Yes you can.
But your parents have to buy a ticket for you. You can't buy it for yourself since your underage

It depends on the airline. I think most airlines would allow a student of age 15+ to travel alone, but only on a direct flight (no layovers or change of planes). You just have to check the individual airlines.

Safest airline.....Quantas, Thai Airways, and anything flying in and out of Israel!

☮ ♥ :)
it really depends on the airline
most airlines do let you fly alone (some only ages 16 and older)

yup! since you're 15/16 you are actually considered an adult on some airlines, but if you want extra attention, help with passport control, etc it might be better to fly unaccompanied, where the flight attendants keep an eye on you. i flew to europe and around the u.s. several times at that age with only adult tickets and i was fine. i personally love british airways, but all airlines are pretty much safe. but beware of southwest, they have lost my bags every single time i fly with them and their seats are always dirty.

have fun! :D
