Carry a razor (with blades) in hand luggage?

Hello.
I want to fly with hand luggage only, but still want to take my razor, is that possible? It's a non-electronic one.

Cheers
Additional Details
thanks neilinpdx, I was kinda guessing the same, as the disposable razor which I was planning to take on the trip is out of an Iberia amenity kit which I got when my luggage was lost.

According to this notice from heathrow airport, you can take fully disposable razors / cartridge razors, or razors with blades set into a plastic moulding, but you can't take razors where you can remove the blade:

http://www.heathrowairport.com/assets/B2CPortal/Static%20Files/Can_and_CantDec06.pdf

So I suppose you'll be ok. If things have changed by the time you get to the airport, just bin the razor(s) you brought with you and buy some at the other end. I've taken disposables on a flight in April, no problem. And the worst that airport security will ever do is ask you to remove them from your baggage (unless you refuse!).
I could be wrong, of course, I'm just relaying what I understand to be the security information from Heathrow airport, in the UK. It's there in the "Allowed" section, surrounded by a green border with a massive tick, under the words "what you can take in your hand baggage", although things might have changed with Glasgow and all.

dark girl
No its not allowed anymore (it hasn't been since sept 11th). Unless you try and they don't notice - but if its seen on the x-ray they will take it off you.

Just to let you know - Neilinpdx is wrong. Like i said, try and take it and perhaps they won't notice, but if they do it will be taken off you. If its a cheap plastic one then you won't mind anyway. Perhaps Neilinpdx is a "flight attendant" in the USA - they allow the crew (Not Passengers) to take them. In the UK the crew are the same as the passengers. But anyway, the rule is no razors or anything like that in hand luggage for passengers on any flight. Once you get on board the airline may provide them, but it doesn't mean you can take them through.

joyceeleann
Nope...I wouldn't do it...it might end up with you shot or arrested

See Derhahn get turned away. See Derhahn sobbing. See Derhahn running round airport shouting "Where is Neilinpdx?" But no one knows what "pdx" means, only Neil. Neil hears about this and goes into hiding. See Derhahn post another question "Does anyone know the whereabouts of neilinpdx?" See Derhahn get lots of answers. See Derhahn put razor blade in his pocket and go in search of neil. Poor neil. And, a tip for Derhahn, don't believe everything you read, double check.

Why not take bladed disposable razors.
If they ban/take them away you are not too much out of pocket ,
If you need a shave during journey(stopovers/transfers) they are often available from machine in toilets at airports and services.
Buy some more at other end (from supermarket where price is cheaper)

PS : note how dark girl + neilinpdx (steward/cabin crew) give conflicting answers !
........besides they may change the regulations from day to day due to London car bombs etc

Of course they're allowed. They offer disposibles to passengers in first class on long international flights, and I've taken mine with me everytime I fly (which is a lot...I'm a flight attendant). don't plan on taking the old fashioned straight or safety razors...disposible and cartridge razors are fine. When in doubt about what is approved in checked and carry on luggage, check the TSA website, or simply leave it at home and buy it when you get there. And no...the security checkpoint TSA guys won't shoot you.

cherub
Absolutely not. No sharp objects, not even nail files are allowed in hand luggage. Electric items are allowed however, so if you have an electric shaver or a battery one take that.

No it isn't allowed.
If you just want to take hand luggage then why don't you buy some disposable razors once you get there?

kenjinuk
the answer is NO. Handluggage will be scanned and "sharp objects" will be lost. Why not have it in luggage and have it in the hold? Unless you hate queues then carrying everything onboard is just a pain in the neck. Taking a suitcase, gives you more room for presents and duty free.
