There is a list of great travel deal sites at http://www.travelbargainsites.com One of the sites compares the prices of all the airlines. After you have found the lowest price, you can go to a site that will let you haggle a lower price. |

I'm not sure about in Europe but in the US it's just about always cheaper to book directly with the airline. Expedia never seems to have cheaper fares and they also charge a booking fee. |

You have a choice, but not to Essen I'm afraid. Air Berlin fly to Dusseldorf from London Stansted, the fare for the dates you require is £104.36. Flybe go to Dusseldorf from Manchester, Birmingham & Southampton, the latter costing £119.88. But the best, by far, is Ryanair from Stansted to Dusseldorf Weeze. You can leave at 0740hrs or 1050hrs on 24/8, returning at 2005hrs on 26/8 for £38.43. An earlier return is possible and the return fare would then be £44.41. There is a bus, train or airport shuttle to Essen, the bus fare being 12.50 euros, one way. Good luck. |

Check out Ryan Air, Easy Jet or Germany Wings. All have very inexpensive flights between the UK and Germany. However, note that August is high season so you'll be paying more than at other times of the year, but it will still be cheaper than most other airlines. |
