Yes. They usually put a tag on their shirt and are watched by the flight attendent. They are escorted on and off the plane to the person waiting for them. The arrangements are made at the time of flight reservation. |

Unless the child in question is a rotten little psycho maniac, it shouldn't present any problems. Check with the airline to confirm their protocol for minors traveling alone. |

sure! She will be "unaccompanied minor" which will involve an extra fee, but nothing airlines don't do by the thousands every day. |

Yes, but I would notify the airline to see if they can provide any assistance. Like walking her to the gate or availing themselves to her if she has any questions. She will do fine, I have seen even younger passengers flying by themselves, but see if the airline has any services that would ease any frustrations you may have about her flying alone. |

I would say that yes she would..
although it would be a good idea to pay a flight attendant to take care of the soon to be 12 year old. |

My son was on direct flights by himself at 7 years. |

Yes you just have to make sure you contact the airline first and see what their polices are about sending minors on a flight alone, they might have some papers for the parent or guardian to sign. Usually they will also give the child special badges to wear and have a flight attendant look after them to make sure they get to their destination safely. |

I dont know, the first time I traveled by myself I was 17 years old. I doubt the airlines will send you by yourself unless with a flight attendant assistance. By the way I wouldnt be sending my 11 or 12 year old child on a trip without assistance from a flight attendant. |

yep just contact the airline and they will have a rep assist them in getting on and off the plane and making any connections |

If you have the correct documentation, yes. I am not sure as to whether you have to have parental or legal guardian signatures, etc. but you may be able to do it all by yourself. If you are under 15 I think they will make you have a guide that will help you get from terminal to terminal, etc. |

yup i am pretty sure they can, sumtimes u can assign the kid a guardian to fly with.... like the airport sumtimes gives the kid like an airhost/ hostess to fly with them..... my friend traveled to china when she was 12 by herself |

Yes, it's very common for kids that age to be flying by themselves. You would drop off the child at the airport, and the relatives would pick her up upon arrival. At the airport, the child would be most likely escorted to her gate and flight by either flight attendants or specially designed airport personnel (unaccompanied minor escorts or similar). During the flight, she would undoubtedly be well taken care of by the flight attendants (they put special emphasis on taking care of children traveling by themselves). It only depends on how long the flight is and if the child would feel comfortable flying by herself.
I was 13 when I first flew to Poland, without parents, on an 11 hour flight. |

yeah but the flight attendant must be with her (someone should look after her) and the stewardess must hand her SAFELY to her relatives.
PS she must have a flight pasport (some kinda document )or whatever. |

I think it all depends on the maturity of the child in question.
If she can keep a level head, it would not be a problem |

yes but you have to let them no ahead of time. I personally would be a nervous freaking wreck sending her though. |

each airline has differing rules and conditions.
call direct. might be best ot get it in writing as these days verbal things could change...and you'd be left.. |

yes as long as she is fit to travel she will get a special boarding pass and will be escorted on and off the plane by the airport ground staff. |

I believe so. Most airlines offer a program for minors where they escort them onto the plane, look after them in flight (by checking up on them periodically), and make sure they meet up with their relatives at the destination.
When I was younger, I flew by myself and there were no problems.

Yes, your kid could. Many airlines require you to call their telephone booking line, however, since they will set the minor up as an "Unaccompanied Minor". When you check in, your child will be given a pin and a plastic bag on a lanyard. The pin will say something like "Unaccompanied Minor" and the bag will have the ticket inside. The ticketing agent will give you a security pass, allowing you through security with your child. You will also be asked the name and phone number of the person picking your child up at the other end, so that they can be given a security pass to meet your child at the gate. Throughout the flight your child will be seated near other unaccompanied minors and will be checked on by flight attendants. It is really quite seamless, and it works this way until they reach "Adult ticket status" at 13 on most airlines, at which point the Secuirty Passes are no longer given at the arriving end, and your child is on his/her own. It does require a small extra fee, but it's very trivial (something like 15 dollars) and there is no risk at all. Your child will pre-board the airplane and be last off, so there is no way he/she could be missed by the flight attendants. I did this many times starting when I was 7, and sometimes found the amount of attention payed to me was annoying. Don't worry, your kid would do just fine. |
