For them to walk you place to place, is considered Unaccompanied Minor service. There is a fee for this. If you are concerned about it, ask whomever booked the ticket to call the airlines and have this serviced booked for you. (There is more to UM service, such as someone having to show ID and sign when picking you up.) Here is a link about it:
http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/special_travel_needs/services_for_children/children_traveling_alone/index.jsp
If you feel like you will be able to get around, maybe just needing some guidance...there are plenty of workers in the airports to help point you in the right direction (ask anyone with an airport badge). There may not be someone available to walk you to your next gate, but like I said, they can tell you where to go.
Here is a link about having your pet in cabin:
http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/special_travel_needs/pet_travel_information/pet_travel_options/index.jsp
Having your pet in a carrier onboard the plane with you does count as 1 carry-on. Keep this in mind when you are packing as you are only allowed 1 carry-on and 1 personal item such as a purse, laptop bag, etc. The fee for carry on pets is collected at the counter, so be sure someone gives this to you, to pay for your dog. There is a phone number at the bottom of the link to call to arrange your plans to have your pet onboard. There is a limit as far as how many are allowed, and it states it is a "first come, first serve" basis. While many people don't travel with their pets on the plane, there some that do. I would get there early enough to be sure you are of the "first come, first served".
I hope this helps you a bit! And I hope your trip goes smooth! |

Call them again or go to the airport, it needs to be noted on your reservation that you're traveling with a pet because there's only a certain number of pets that can be on board at the same time. You can take it on, if you don't already have one, buy a soft sided carrier so you can be sure it fits under the seat in front of you. It's not unsual for people to travel with pets, so you'll be fine. You can pay for the pet fee over the phone, or once you get to the airport, either way is fine. You also want to get a copy of your vet's health certificate, just so they can know that your pet has gotten all of the shots. |

You should call again on a different hour so that you get a different person to speak with. If that fails try to find a customer service number for the airport and ask if you are allowed to take a dog on a plane. I dont think you can have the dog with you inside the plane. They need to be put in a pet carrier and put away in a different compartment. Pets are sort of treated like luggage when you are traveling on a plane. I have traveled on a plane a few dozen times and I NEVER saw anyone taking a dog with them inside the plane.
P.S. Most airlines have poor service unless they are foreign. Foreign international flights have EXCELLENT service for some reason. I think they are more critical about who they hire when the plane ticket costs more than $1,500. Plus the food is so much better. All the american airlines I have flown with were horrible when it comes to service. You have these fake stewardesses that give you fake smiles while not even looking at you in the eyes. They rush through you while they provide you snacks. Sometimes they just throw it down on your table and move on. I ask them for some kind of drink and they look annoyed if its not something common like orange juice or coke. One time I asked for water without ice and the woman looked pissed about that too!! I say its pretty bad to travel through any american airline. If you travel abroad the french or italian airlines are usually spectacular when it comes to service, food and accomodations. Asian airlines are even better. They give you awesome meals and the service is 10 out of 10. |

is your dog a pet or a service dog?
if a pet there will be a service charge anyway from $50 to 75.00 for taking your pet
do you have kennel for it? the dog must stay in the kennel during the flight
do you have a certificate from the vet saying your dog is okay to fly
and has all vaccinations?
you have to call the airlines and make reservations for both of you
where you flying to? is hot weather where you are going?
or are going oversea or to hawaii (both these locations have a lot of
restrictions for taking your pet |

I hope you got the man's name. You can contact customer service and tell them you were disappointed with this agent.
Dogs are put in a pet taxi and checked in like luggage. Also, before you fly, go to tsa.gov and read up on what you need to do, such as ZipLoc'ing liquids in your carry-on. Also, tote someting to eat because airlines don't feed you anymore. |

if you bring a dog on board the employees will probably be nice, but it's the other passengers that will give you some attitude if he barks |
