Did I see a plane almost crash today?

Today, around 5:45pm, I was driving near the San Jose, CA airport. I've lived close to the flight path for more than 2 years, so I'm pretty familiar with how planes approach to land.

Well, a Southwest Airlines plane was coming in normally from the south, when it swerved way to the west, almost like it was turning around. Then it wiggled and wobbled - I honestly thought it was going to crash, then, with less than 1/4 mile before the airport, it finally got back on track. Since I didn't hear sirens, and there hasn't been anything on the news, I assume it landed normally.

How would I find out if something almost happened?

If there was an incident (even without a crash) it would be required to have an NTSB report, that information is available once investigations are complete

Just one of them so called "close call". The luck was on their side I guess.

The pilot may have been trying to straighten out the plane. Sometimes little adjustments have to be made. The plane could have gotten instructions from air traffic control to swing around before landing. If you haven't heard anything about a crash I am sure nothing bad happened.

It probably hit a bad patch of crosswinds and needed to regain it's balance.

I'm sure if anything happened, there'd be lots of ambulances and fire trucks. Keep an eye on your local news.

well first of all if u are driving a car u should only n only focus on ur driving. What if u had a crash with another car? now coming back to the plane. well u didint see it on news or didnt hear anything from anyone then i dont think it has crashed. i hope it didnt.. and sometimes when we see a plane we think something is wrong because it is wiggleing but nothing really happens. i hope i am making sense here.

the Air Traffic Control people at SJC could tell you. I have no idea if they answer questions like that, but they would have the best info, other than the pilot and navigator on the plane. and i doubt they would the pilot etc. would discuss it if they came close to a crash.

You could call or email Southwest Airlines, but i bet they would say "no problem" even if there was a near crash.
=============
your description sounds like there may have been a wind gust that made the plane swerve.

There may be an almost throwaway filler in the paper
