There's not a difference in the two when it comes to accumulating miles. Most programs it's based on the actual miles flown. So the only difference between domestic and international would be the amount of miles you get. Check with your airline though.. Occasionally there are special ways to earn miles and it might include an international trip. |

From the airline's point of view, the difference
between a domestic and an international flight
is simply whether or not they have to got through
customs or not.
The actual length of the flight doesn't matter.
San Diego to Tijuana would be International.
San Diego to New York would be domestic. |

International flights or flights that go from country to country usually cost more points (eg Philippines to Europe)
but in the US, more frequent flyer points are accumulated if you take a domestic flight or a flight that only flies within the country (Texas to Hawaii)
Hope I helped :) |

"Domestic" flights refer to points within the United States, Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam only.
"International" flights refer to flights departing the U.S. and arriving at any other place in the world except those shown above. |

domestic =local flights, need drivers license
international = outside usa, need passport, & visa in some cases. Frequent flyer points apply to both domestic and international, doesn't matter which..it's the distance that counts. bon voyage. |
