Do I really have to pack my medication (pills) in their original packaging when carrying on?

I am traveling on a commerical airplane for the first time since August. Does the TSA really look for labels to match the pills you carry on? This is one thing their website doesn't clarify well.

Thanks!

i'm fairly certain that they want you to do that now

I traveled, via air 2 weeks ago, and I did not take any of my meds in their original bottles. I fill my pill case each week with all the meds that I will need to take for the entire week. That is what I carried on board the air plane and I had no questions asked and I passed through the security screening area quickly. You can carry lipstick as long as it is in a solid form, you know, the old fashion tube kind!

I'm a TSA Officer and we don't look at the pills. We can tell on the x-ray that they are pills, the only medications that are prescriptions that we compare your ID to the label is if it is a liquid or a gel.

yes,...and depending on where you're going --if you have to pass through customs you'd better have original packaging as well.

and so

yes

Yea, it's better safe than sorry. U are making more of a hassle if u don't.

Checkers, anyone?
If you don't carry them in the original vial, you need to carry something that can prove that they were prescribed to you.

Iyanna A
Yes because they would ask you for ypur papers or some type of evidence that they were prescribed to you, so keep them in their original bottle and have a safe flight.

Kate T.
yes now more than ever. It really is a good idea so as not to cause trouble . and ppl have a tendancy to get angry with ppl that are holding up their flight because they cannot find a ticket, bottle,etc...I have found the easier the better when it comes to flying .
