Do You Need A key To Start A Plane? If Not What Do You Need?

when the pilot first enters the cockpit is a key needed to start the plane? this question has bugged me for weeks...

The smaller, personal planes require a key to start.

Commercial planes don't. They have everything done with butons.

Every plane I ever flew required a key to engage the instrument panel. The only plane I can think of that didn't was an old 1951 TaylorCraft and that took two people -- one to turn the prop while the other pumped the carbs in the cockpit.

yes planes are the same as motorbikes you turn the key and then kick start the engine put it in 1st gear and away you go.
