Do earplugs or earphones help in the plane?

So that you dont get those 'air bubbles'??

Show all answers

The Blockader
the air bubbles are supposed to be caused by air pressure as you gain altitude, earplugs or earphones should help because it blocks the entrance to the ear.

yup. i fell alseep on the plane before it even took off and i had my earphones in and they didnt pop! also chew gum:D

Surprisingly enough I think earphone do help (especially the bud ones that fit snuggly in your ear). As everyone else said, chewing gum helps too.

My ears hurt so badly that I cry when I am on a plane. The only thing that works for me is to take a couple sudafed about 1/2 hour before the flight takes off. It seriously works wonders.

Yes, if you buy the correct ones. You can find them at sites like shopping.yahoo and the like. Just do a search under "airplane earplugs". Generally they keep out the big change in cabin pressure during take off and landing which sometimes cause your ears to hurt. Chewing gum or yawning a lot :D can also help. Its usually what I end up doing.

falconator93
i prefer the earbuds
chewing gum helps with the "air bubbles"
