Yes. They should and I'll tell you why. Because why should my comfort be overridden by theirs? I payed for one ticket, they paid for a ticket, yet they are entering my space too! And God forbid there be a third person in that row...holy god mary mother of jesus...I forget what they call it in real estate, you know, when your neighbor's property encroaches yours...maybe encroaching...but man does it suck!

I think it was Oprah or Dr Phil that I saw this episode where fat people were complaining that they had to pay for two seats and how it was a form of discrimination. The arguments for and against are very interesting indeed.

OK as bad as it sounds the answer is yes but with an *. Most airlines will make someone that is this much over weight buy two seats for the flight. After the flight if not full they can get a refund for the 2nd seat.

I am not certain if it still exists, but there was at least one airline that did require morbidly obese people to purchase an extra seat. Recently on a flight from LA to Melbourne Australia the gentleman in front of me did purchase three seats for him and his wife. I am certain he was far more comfortable than my husband and I. The economy (cheap) seats are horrendous.

If they take up two seats, then they pay for two seats. Why should the airline give them a freebie because they eat too much and don't exercise?

If you pay for a seat, do you want the overweight person next to you taking up half the seat YOU paid for?

I did actually hear something about weight restrictions... as bad as that sounds, I kind of agree. Its uncomfortable sitting next to a large person on the plane. I don't complain though. I imagine it's even more uncomfortable for them.

Yes, there are weight rules on flights. They do have to pay for two seats if they are a certain size. I saw a larger man on that A&E show "Airplane" getting very angry about it once. I personally think they should have some larger sized seats so they can be better accomodated. It can't be comfortable, it must be humiliating and it costs twice as much to fly!

I don't think they should, those seats are too narrow.
