Do first class passengers on airplanes get more respect from the flight attendants, than the other passengers?

No, they just receive a more convenient service (larger seats, blankets, pillows, hot towels, etc)

Sad to say- but it's equal between first and coach class. So many people that fly in first class think that they deserve the world just because they are in first class- yet more money doesn't buy you manners. I like more people in coach since they are more genuine- yet many of them can be nightmares too. So- as a flight attendant- it is a 50/50 split-great people in first class and coach and horrible in both. Basically- if you are nice to me- you get my respect- no matter where you sit.

Scotty Doesnt Know
No. In many cases, they get less.

Flight Attendants are on board primarily for the SAFETY of all passengers. Those who fly first class are generally people who fly a lot, and are set in their ways, and always seem to know better than the flight attendant.

I think the key to getting respect and good treatment from flight attendants is to treat them the way you'd want to be treated.

I disagree with the answerer below me. Most people in first class do NOT pay more for their ticket. They've been upgraded because they fly a lot, and the airlines reward them for their loyalty. And I've NEVER seen anyone tip a flight attendant.

When I used to fly, we were always gently 'reminded' to go that extra mile for passengers, especially those in business and first class as they paid 5-10 times more than those from economy class. Those first and business class passengers requests will be given priority than the economy's and the former will never let you forget who your boss is even though they failed to realize that it was their company who is paying for the seats and not them. They also failed to realize that repsect is not given on a platter but must be earned.

However, I do give respect to those who are seated in business or first class who used their own money to pay for the fare. But in our line of work, all are humans and I don't see why the first class passengers should be given more respect. On the other hand, economy passengers can behave better than most 'prestigious' passengers and that makes me respect them even more.

averagebear
Well, not really. First class passengers would get more respect only because the first class flight attendants are more respectful (to everyone). These flight attendants are experienced, and they did not get promoted to work the first class cabin for no reason. They are often the airline's most respectful and sharpest people.

ironchain15
Yes they do. I used frequent flier points to fly in first class on Northwest and I have never been treated that well in coach. So, technically, I did not have to pay for a first class ticket.

SSDD
Yes

France50
Depends on the airline. I've flown First Class with British Airways, and been treated with the same contempt their staff reserve for Economy/Coach class passengers.

mmuscs
Respect no, attention yes. I have found that if you are respectful to flight attendants then you get respect back. You do get more attention in First Class because there are less people for the flight attendant to deal with. I have also found that often times the flight attendant in First Class is not the senior flight attendant they are the junior ones. Because they are dealing with less people most of which are very familiar with the aircraft and it's working because they have spent so much time on it they often need less attention.
I have elite status on one of the major airlines because I fly more than 25,000 miles each year. I am usually upgraded to First Class and the seats are more comfortable and the food is better. With a lot of the airlines going to the RJ's and smaller jets there is no First Class.

remember me?

absolutely. thats what they are paying for. at a car dealership do you think the guy who drives in his 2007 GMC Yukon Denali 4x4 SUV with leather and loaded gets treated better that the guy who drives the rusted out 10 year old Pontiac Sunfire with torn seats?

Halo
Because they pay more for the ticket.

NO! I'm a flight attendant (10yrs) and I treat everyone on the plane the exact same. Just because you're in f/c doesn't mean that you are anymore important than the man back in coach in a middle seat.

Most f/c paxs(passengers) know the drill of air travel. They can either be the easiest paxs or the worst. Sometimes with money comes attitude. These are the paxs to avoid. They're real pains!
For example:
On a weather delay you might here:

"when are we leaving.............don't you know who I am?"

-----or-------
When you run out of Chicken entrees and all thats left is Pasta:

"thats it, thats all you have left? What was the other choice, I can't believe I paid $$$$ for this ticket and all you have is Pasta left!......don't you know who I am?"

----or------
Back to the weather delay:

"You're telling me that you don't know about my connecting flight, well you're company better put me up tonite if I miss it......don't they know who I am?"

AVOID THESE PEOPLE, because believe it or not, I've heard every stupid comment like this in the world.

However, most paxs, whether coach or f/c, are good-respectabul people.

So, I hope that answers your question. Me personally, I could care less how much money you have, your job title, how successful you are, or where your BUTT is sitting on my airplane. You are another warm body in a seat, and I treat all paxs the same with respect and good manners.

Depends, but they get more attention because they paid more for the certain services like breakfast/lunch/dinner; when you sit in coach, you don't really talk or make contact with the attendant except when they ask you what kind of drink you want.

ilessthanthreeyou
ya kinda..it seems they are a tad nicer to me when i fly first class...but then again i am paying more for a ticket

No, nice passengers get more respect than rude ones, regardless of seat.

Yes they do. I once flew coach from Ny to Manchester Eng. It was an 6 hr flight. I had to go potty,
& since the coach potty was occupied I went to 1st class but was turned away because I was in coach! Plus they get bigger more comfy seats.

hrmm...I'm gonna say no. A lot of the seats in first/biz class are occupied by people with flyer status that gives upgrades, and being a travel agent and talkin to the dickheads that demand these upgrades, i can only assume they are dickheads to the flight attendents as well. With that being said, I don't think any self respecting flight attendent would kiss their *** if they are coming off as "king/queen almighty" they just get bigger seats, meals etc.

Totally more respect. They pay more for the tickets, plus they tip.
