kids under 16 flying with parents, DO NOT need ID. (US Domestic flights)
International flights, they need their own passport, and I mean PASSPORT. No ID cards or anything you can think of

diamond
the kids of such age when they appear older than 18 years but actually are younger, birth certificate may be required to prove the correct age. However .In your case, i don't think birth certificate is required especially.

Textpert
If they are flying outside the country they need a passport.
This will do as the passport do contain the data of birth of the child.

If travelling interstate then it is not necessary to keep the birth certificate.

They need a birth certificate and/or a passport to go out of the country. No, ifit is flying to a different state in this country.

Its best to have the birth certificates with you incase the airline asks to see them. Knowing that you have seats purchased for them, they likely wont ask. They are more concerned about kids who are under age 2, to make sure the parents arent trying to have their child fly as a lap child when they are actually over age 2.

the kids need some sort of identification. I'm not sure if the idientify kid card would do it. You might want to call the airlines about it. But, when i was young, my mom connected my name to her passport somehow. And thats how i flew.

If they are leaving the country they need a passport no matter what if they are flying within the states the photo id should be ok. I call the airline though to make sure some follow different rules.

Check directly with the airlines. Airlines have their own rules about the ages of children that require a seat to be purchased or whether or not the child can be held. The birth certificate is usually required to prove the children meet the age requirement. I think the ages would require a seat purchase for them. Good Luck
