Do plane crashes keep you from flying? ?

For me, oh yeah. I am the worst person you can get on a plane. I will squeeze my eyelids shut and strangle the person next to me whenever turbulence hits. And I'm just waiting for the plane to go into a nose-dive. But...I still do it for the sake in getting there faster...

The thought that always hits me is when an airplane crashes about two days ago (4 example) I keep thinking... Oh my god... they say you cant really die in a crash...but that could've been me! And those X amount of people who lost their lives!!!

So getting back to the question: Do plane crashes keep you from flying?

No because the average person has a 98% chance of dyeing while driving on the way to work then a plane crashing, you have a better chance of dyeing while crossing the street on a street intersection then a plane crashing, most of the plane crashes that happen are pilot error and not machine/plane error, I love to fly, its so cool being on top of the world looking down at everything and everybody

The fact that planes crash does not keep me from flying anymore than the fact that cars crash keeps me from riding in cars. You have a far greater chance of being hurt or killed in a car crash near your home than in an airplane crash. But , then, fear of flying is not based on logic.

keagkid101
Nope

Sαмміе Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
No, it's not the plane crashes, I hate being crammed up and not being able to keep my luggage with me.
I travelled on a plane once - never again.
I much prefer to drive, although I did read once that there's more chance of being involved in a serious car accident than being on a plane which crashes.

ducktape_ducky
yeah, it is a scary possibility but there is no way I am driving if I can catch a plane and everything you do could kill you

I haven't heard of any plane crashes the only incident I have heard of
was when a plane overshot the runway the FAA and NTSB dont count that as a crash but an overrun the Media will say it crashed when it didn't
crash) because who wants to read plane overshot the runway when
they could say Plane crash?
also look at how many flights there are in the world

Everything in life is a gamble. Someone gets killed crossing the street so you never cross the street? A lunatic goes on a rampage at a school and kills some innocent people so you never go to school again? A plane crashes you keep flying and hope that that plane crash makes your flight safer....everyone is more aware....

fat jim
used to have a fear now i think we crash we crash whoooptie doo... i want to be eaten by a shark so.... yeah

Not me......... if they did I would never fly... You are safer on a plane than in your car.

Sonora
No.

yes if you get killed !

Plane crashes do not discourage me from flying because flying is still the safest form of transportation. Plane crashes only make the news because they are so rare. Plus most people are able to escape plane crashes alive. There are people who I know of that were willing to fly the day after 9/11. They felt perfectly safe in spite of what happened. Their logic was that airport security would be extremely tight that there would not need to be any worries.

Angel of Music
Well, if you are in a plane crash you are more than likely to die. But it doesn't stop me from flying, I am even going to be Air Cabin Crew. But the chance of a plane crashing is very small. It is the safest way to travel, and the turbulence is normal, you don't have to worry

Dafydd
No. If I thought like that I'd never drive anywhere by car, never take a train, never cross the road, etc etc

No.

I have never flown in an aeroplane because I have never had the need or desire to.

Flying in a comercial aeroplane is much safer than driving on a busy motorway, which I have done many a time. Besides you get to die pretty quick in a plane cash, much better than a brain tumor or motor neurone disease.

Just think positive.

Yes mid atlantic explosions and fiery crashes would be top of my list. I like small planes that I have always had good luck in during crashes. If I die I don't want to be revived just to have to go through the whole process once more. I don't think bigger is better for flying.

topgearrocks
that all depends on the person, for most people who are afraid of flying I would guess so, it can even shake some people who aren't afraid of flying, but I remember there was this ad I saw once that declared that flying was statistically the safest way of travelling.

If you are in a plane crash, it will usually keep you from doing anything ever again. ie you'll be dead. On the plus side, you will never be in a plane crash nor will you win the lottery.
