Until a white old lady hijacks a plane, they should focus their efforts on the people we know have a higher potential for being evil...muslim looking folks.

Gotta profile, most terrorists fit a certain criteria. You know what I'm talking about. Public safety has to come before being politically correct.

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, stop waiting to see if its about to she ite on you and shoot it now,,,,take steps to keep all secure.do it now ,it may not have been you or your families yet.dont wait till it is....

belle♥
i don't care how they will do it as long as everybody will be safe

Jo-Anne C
Airports should check everyone's baggage inspite of race and ethnicity.....

If they do this racial profiling thing, more than likely they'll overlook a terrorist who doesn't fit the profile. There have been non-muslim terrorists before, haven't there?

Since not all of these extremists are arab it's a stupid thing to assume that this will have any increase in safety!!

?
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEs if it looks like **** don't eat it so why if it acts like **** why not flush it down the toilet.
If you see a big bad dog coming down the street would you go and pat him like a pussy cat.
99% of all Terrorist's are Muslem I beg your pardon shall we not check them out a bit more but be ware of the Trojan Horse.
Take care!

Silly chick
It's a good practice but also any suspicious person should also be checked because there are crazies of any race... maybe more so.

Also, I don't condone the violation of the rights of anyone but there's nothing wrong with making sure they don't have a BOMB. :)

yes. all people should ve treated eqally. but i would feel much safer if i knew through racial profiling somebody caught a terrorist.

I think that all people should be treated equally...its only the racists who consider otherwise...

Jim Jam has the Correct answer. Of course, racial profiling is necessary.

WickedMagnet
well of course all people should be treated equally. Everybody knows there's some crazy white people running around, and anybody can be any religion, or be raised a certain way, regardless of how they LOOK. I figure, if they're looking for crazies who are pulling this jihad crap, there's nothing that says a good ol' American can't believe in someone else's cause, right?

Hi idiotinlondon!

Racial profiling usually works very well AFTER a specific crime has been committed and witnesses or the victim(s) give you a description of the criminal. It can also work if it is done as subtally as possible so as the criminal we'r after isn't aware he's being tracked down.
Otherswise, Racial profiling BEFORE any crime has been committed or profiling that is made as public as it is done at the moment is pure FANTASY whose ONLY benefit is to put suspicious and let's face it, racially prejudiced people AT REST but NOT SAFE at all!
Plus do you really think that a wd be bomber who fits exactly the profile wd still try to blow up a plane and hope to get thru security without being noticed???? Forget it! Terrorists use the element of surprise, they're not so Stupid to do smthg that everyone expects them to do!

Not just that! if it were Muslims that were profiled, then BOy you've got a job on your hands. Muslims are not a RACE!!!!!! There are black, whiter than white and loads of Oriental ( more than arabs or Asian) Muslims. Some have typical Muslim names and dress code, others not at all . There are also those people that we think are Mslims but are not! Not to mention te overwhelming majority of Muslims that fit the profile but NOT the CRIME!!!!!So let's face it Racial profiling in these conditions is like looking for a needle in the wrong haystack and in the wrong farm!

boilerman426
Yes I believe the gov't is doing profiling and I think that it is wrong, but look at the leaders that they have ie senator allen of Virginia.

One could adopt a simple rule to avoid any delay at all :

No hand luggage, for anyone except for items bought within the airport, along with a checked receipt.

That said, I think racial profiling is a bit of a misnomer; the profile is that of a potential terrorist, and of course with time terrorists would try to find ways to get around this stuff. At the present time, however, young men 18-30 of pakistani origin seem to be more likely to be found within the terrorist set than other groups, even arabs. I myself am a muslim, but am European.

Insanity does not run in communities, but rather, the immigrant communities throughout our country have all been forced away from mainstreamed life and into miserable ghettoes. In these places, where many of the older people cannot speak english well, the children are in turn only semi-literate and this means that they cannot obtain good jobs, and hence drugs and violent disorder prevail as a cultural norm. Little wonder that young men, who love to be angry in any culture, tack onto an ideology of destruction of the state that keeps them in such miserable conditions and which they would wish to substitute with a system which they perceive would be fairer and more moral.

The fault lies in the racist attitudes of the majority, over many decades, who, rather than integrate the immigrants into their country, chose to sweep them under the carpet - out of sight, out of mind - and hence, in the long run, bred the contempt that now manifests itself in gangs, drugs and terrorism. Happy citizens have no wish to change the status quo, and don't form a fertile area for radicalism. Unfortunately, governments and attitudes over successive decades HAVE created a fertile area for these people and ideologies.

Essentially - it IS racist to target a particular group, and for that I am ashamed, because it is an evil that we must adopt to combat an evil that we ourselves have created. The Empire has been dying a long time; this may be the medicine which will keep it going a while longer, but like many medicines, there are side effects. Perhaps this medicine, whilst allowing Britain to survive in its present form for a few decades yet, may prove to be its undoing in the longer term as the drug which we take to cure one thing causes another, worse, condition.

I don't see a problem... I'm white and I get pulled out of the crowd and searched every time I'm in an airport just because of the way I look. I've never complained about this because it actually comforts me to know that people are being checked. Because of this I don't see why asians are getting so defensive about it.... surely extra security will also help comfort them.

bcitygent
I wondered when you would re surface lad. Good to see yer!

I think Jim Jam has just about nailed it lad.,

They have to profile or you'll be spending 24 hours earlier at the airport n pay like 12 times more for flights security

Absolutely YES..
Any security force that does not use racial profiling for
airport security is not doing its job properly...

boxing_fan_4_wlad
Yes if it was old grannys doing this they should profile them, its not though its middle eastern muslim men so profile them.

I don't like it , but there is really a science to it. all insurance companies have been doing it for many years as well as all financial institutions, and even some home owners associations...its all around us

HIPPI
no I do not agree.ALL people are equal.Racial profiling was used by the Nazi's.It is totally immoral.

Angel E
In that particular incident I think that everyone should be checked because the terrorists are clever in how they arrange themselves, they'll know that if they look a certain way they'll get checked.

No, wouldn't that escalate prejudice. I know it's really funny to check an 80 year old grandma, but if security didn't then soon enough there would be some 80 year old grandma with bombs stapped to her getting on some plane.

All people treated equally (which means we all get treated like crap)
