Do you believe that a flight attendant's *** should be narrower than the aisle?

About 18 months ago, I was flying back to the states after a couple of years overseas (where you would never see something like this) and one of the flight attendants was really, REALLY fat. Her *** was literally wider than the aisle, and every time she walked past someone, her *** would be rubbing up against their shoulders.

Now what do you folks think? Do you think that such a person is too fat to be a flight attendant? Do you think that such a person could fairly be fired (or transferred to another position until she loses weight)?

(I'm not saying I think every flight attendant should be young and beautiful, BTW. And nothing says "welcome to America!" like a fat flight attendant.)

If there are height restrictions on flight attendants, then there should be weight restrictions too. I mean, they need to get through the aisle and keep passengers comfy.

I don't think it's "discriminating against fat ppl" (because we all know SOMEONE gets their panties in a bunch over that), it's just requirements on the job.

yeah but United doesn't agree with me.

If her weight prevented her from performing her job duties, then it would be a problem. If all it did was cause her to touch passengers, then no.

rhonda c
I think everyone's should be narrower than the aisle.

she should not be as fat as the aisle but you cant fire her because of her weight, b/c it is not part of her job requirement thin. so she cant really be placed into a different position based on her weight

bye.
lol... i agree with you.

I agree. It is repulsive when you are sitting there relaxing and all of a sudden this a** just rubs up against you accidentally. However it is discrimination, I do believe that they should be appointed a different position and not even given that position.

I've heard of dancing cheek to cheek, but never flying " cheek to cheek "...

She should be moved to another position within the airline, but she should definitely not be in a flight status. A Flight Attendant's foremost responsiblity is to insure the safety of the passengers during an in-flight emergency. Being so obese would certainly hinder any Flight Attendant in performing those duties in an efficient manner during an emergency.

18 months ago and your still talking about, get over it and get a life.

HAHA. This is by far the funniest post I've seen here. I do believe that flight attendant's should have narrower posteriors than the aisles. The last thing I want is a bubble of lard pressed against my forehead as I'm flying the redeye out to some godawful american destination.

Marissa
I fly all the time and I understand exactly what your talking about. I always try to sit on the aisle and I've had flight attendants bang into my head and shoulders when I am clearly in my seat not hanging out into the aisle at all. I'm not one that thinks only young beautiful people should be flight attendants but I think given the physical nature of their job and the fact that they may be called upon in a real life in flight emergency, I think a standard of physical fitness should be a serious consideration when hiring attendants.

I think regardless of profession...if you are in a job where you must REPRESENT your company physically as well as provide face-to-face customer service...then you should manage your weight a bit better.
