I fly with MAS, and the food used to be good, but they had cutbacks and went to another supplier, and its now tasteless, and badly prepared,I like my curries, but theirs is now all rubbery and dry,now I eat before i fly,and then try to sleep through the flight.
I DO ENJOY THE TAKE OFF AND LANDING,BUT ONCE IN THE AIR ,IT IS BORING,AND 12HOURS+ OF IT |

No, but it can be amusing. I've often flown with Emirates and it must be said, their food is about as good as it gets, but on one occasion, I tasted the 'main' course and said, aloud, 'That can't be right.' The man next to me asked, 'What?' 'It tastes like pork,' I replied. He took another bite, 'You're right, it does.'
On another Emirates flight, around Christmas, I consulted the menu and declined the proferred tray. My neighbour peeled off the foil and I said, 'You can't eat that.' 'Are you a vegetarian?' he asked. 'No, but if that's turkey breast, it must have been just a baby.'
One morning, sitting in the departure lounge, I realised, from over-hearing their conversation, that the group next to me were also flying Emirates, so I said, 'I don't know if they'll be serving food.' 'Why not?' 'It's the first day of Ramadan.' I knew that airlines from Muslim countries serve food during Ramadan and that travellers are exempted from observing the Fast, but they all rushed off and ordered a full English breakfast before take-off. |

It totally depends on the airline, some are good some are bad. The best meal I ever had on a flight was with Air India, absolutely outstanding food.
I've flown a lot with another airline, BA, sometimes their food is ok, but more often than not its pretty mediocre.
AIrline food is usually a case of you get what you pay for, the more expensive airlines have much better food, its as simple as that. |

I live in LA and one half of my family lives in NY. So every year I have to take at least 2 flights. The food is not so bad when I fly to NY. I have also been to Australia twice and Quanta's food is amazing! I swear they have a pro chef in the cockpit! So personally, I really don't mind the plane food. |

Anyways,, it is a hit or miss.. Besides,,, I don't consider quiznos, mcdonalds or little ceasar's gourmet niether.... |

UK reply.
Travel both economy and Business Class for long haul. Most of the food is horrible, inedible on economy and too rich and messed up on BC.
One othe best meals we ever had was on Monarch flight a few years ago. A beautiful full breakfast with eatable scrambled eggs etc. We remember it fondly! I bet it is pap nowadays! |

I've found it to be tremendously variable.
Sometimes quite acceptable other times absolutely vile.
In my experience the (UK) charter airlines have the most variability and Thomson's "Aldo Zilli" food currently being the worst I've had in my thirty plus years of flying. |

Ya it's not bad with ANA<VERY GOOD>,JAL<VERY GOOD> and SIA<Average>. If the airline can allow and you are not scared of being embarrassed, order child meal. Portions slightly lesser anyway you do not need large portions on planes and they look appetising and tastes nice!! |

It's not only awful, it's the most expensive food you ever eat as the catering counts for around 20% of the ticketfare.
On long distance it's a really bad thing that they serve hot food after midnight at a time when it would be better to sleep.
Even if I don't take this meals it's very noisy during the procedure of serving the food and after that collecting the trays, it takes around 3 hours until the lights get switched off and it starts getting quiet in the cabin.
We are really waiting for low cost airlines to go on long distance I do not need some real junk they call food which costs me around 100US$ after midnight. |
