Hell yeah! I recently had a free upgrade into business class after the airline had oversold economy, the drink was flowing constantly, the food was in a completely different league to that in economy, was amazing! |

Yes you do get the same meal as the rest in the class of travel. In fact, this is something that can stop an upgrade, if they don't have enough meals, they can't upgrade people even if they have empty seats.

Well depends where you are flying...if it is domestically within the US you might not get fed at all.
Internationally longhaul you'll certainly get fed and whilst the food isn't often great or amazing it is better than the slop you get in economy.
I've been fortunate enough to enjoy Krug and caviar on Cathay Pacific, Pata negra and '99 Dom Perignon on Qantas and some really nice Japanese dishes on JAL. Most of the food even at the high end is pretty forgettable though and a lot of the time I've eaten better on the ground for $25 an entree!...I'm much more bothered about the increased space and flat bed up front longhaul. |

When you're upgaded, generally the cabin facilities i.e. food, entertaiment, and treatement gets upgraded but not necessary the checked-in baggage gets upgraded. |

yes you do get much better meals in FC or BC then coach. The service is much better also. I found to upgrade if space is open does not cost much more. |

Yeah, the food does tend to be nicer and served on china plates or whatever.
However sometimes airlines take economy food and just dish it on a plate rather than a tray for first/business.
It's not really the food that's the big difference though,it's mostly the space you get, sleeping arrangements, and amount of baggage you can take, that are the differences you notice between economy and first/business. |

You sure do! And in British Airways Business Class the meals come on real plates, not in little plastic trays! (Should hope so too, with the extortionate fares they charge for Business Class .....I got a free upgrade..) |

It really depends on the airline but what you usually get is served first so yours is hot if it is supposed to be and you also get a choice if there is a choice going. However it is usually the same slop that they serve everyone else because there is limited space on the plane. If you want to make sure that you get a good meal you should ask for a halal, kosher, salt free, or diabetic meal when you are booking your flight. By asking for a special meal it will be of your choice even in the cheap seats, well that is if you can find an airline that will feed the cheap seats. The one my company wants me to fly domestically doesn't feed you and you have to bring your own. Me I always bring a foot long sub and eat it on the plane.
BTW its not worth going premium class unless you are going over the ocean or a really long flight because you are going to be paying a lot more for a little more room. Its worth it on the long hauls but not domestically. |
