You're getting conflicting answers from all corners. Your best bet really is to check with your airline, which I'm sure has a website which specifies document requirements. I do believe this is the very first answer you got.

There's a simple logic behind this - people might advise you all day long that a passport is not needed but what if your airline requires it? It is the plane that will bring you to your destination point - so comply with their rules. Check the website, man!

Happy traveling.

Not for internal flights no. But might be an idea to double check with your airline first.

no

You do not need your passport to fly on any domestic flight. You do, however, need identification to prove you are the person named on the ticket. Most airlines will require photo identification before they let you board.

If you have a photocard driving licence, full one, not provisional, that will suffice, you must show government issued photo ID

angel
no but take driving licence with you.

mariamania65
you need some sort of photo id.

No. When traveling in the UK domestically, one does not need a passport because they are already in the UK.

Acceptable forms of identification are:

UK Driving Licence.
National ID card.
etc...

If your not leaving the U.K. your ok.

Depends if you fly with a non English airline, such as Ryanair, then you are technically on Irish soil once you take off.

Most other airlines use the passport check as a security screen. As proof you are who you claim to be

Only terrorists do.

No you don't need a passport to fly within the same country

It is incorrect that you need it with someone like Ryan Air as you can fly to Ireland on just photographic ID such as a driving licence. It is also incorrect that you can fly with a birth cert or credit card, it must be photographic or a photograph endorsed by the same groups of people that can endorse passport photo's but this is much more complicated during check in

Tony BinEye
Yes, and also when you travel into the Town Centre on the bus!

skateboardingste
NO, all you need is proof of your name!! You would need to contact your airline to see which documents they accept. I used to work for bmi, and they would accept your credit/debit card as proof!

It only for security, I am sure if u have the new drivers licence with ur picture that will do as well, but its best to check with airlune first. It is usually lowcost airlines that ask for passport etc.

All the people who say u dont need it in the UK for internal flights dont know what they r talking about. If U try and board an aircraft from a lowcost airline in uk like easyjet who is far better than ryanair any day, u will be refused travel until u can show some sort of photo identidy.
