A passport is required only to travel to another country. To fly within the US all you need is a valid picture ID. A drivers license for example.

PASSPORTS ARE FOR WHEN YOU TRAVEL TO OTHER COUNTRIES.

I don't think you do just to fly domestically, but when in doubt call your local government official or TSA just to make sure.

well if your from canada, as of January 23 *i think *you need your passport. from other countries you sure do.

you only need one to go to another country...if you aren't aleady in the US then you need one

If all of your travel is done within the U.S., no, you won't need a passport.

However, if you leave the country, and want to come back, you'll need one. This applies to Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean now, so even if it's a quick island-hopping weekend out of Miami, you'll want to have one with you.

You only need one to enter or leave the US, not domestically with in the country. But the rules are changing and you now need a passport to enter or leave the US from Canada, Mexico and the Carribbean, when before all you would need is proof of US citizenship like a birth certificate.

You now need one to fly between Mexico, Canada, and the US where you did not need one before. And any other country of course.
