If you are flying from anywhere in United Kingdom including Northern Ireland or are flying from Ireland then you do not need a passport to travel to London, providing that you are U.K. or Irish citizen.
Some airlines however require that you have some form of government issued photo-ID for example a drivers license.
If you are not a U.K. or Irish citizen or you are traveling to London from outside of the United Kingdom or Ireland then you will require a passport. |

Passport Not needed if it is a UK internal flight.
But you will need some form of photgraphic identification before they'll let you on board the aeroplane. This is a security thing for the airlines, not an Immigration requirement.
Sorry, should have specified - if you're not a British subject then you should carry your passport at all times, even on internal flights.
Any other origins will need a passport. |

If it's an international flight then obviously.
If it's an internal flight then no, but you DO need PHOTOGRAPHIC ID, like a driver's license (not the older style paper one). I'd take my passport anyway as it's the best form of photographic ID. |

If you are flying within the UK, I don't think so. But if you are leaving the United States, you need a passport to all international countries. |
