In fact, it is NOT a requirement to have ANY ID to fly (as I've said many times). Everyone says "it's the law" but I'm waiting for someone to actually show me the federal code (hint: there is none). |

A passport is not required for US Citizens for domestic travel. Sometimes I bring mine, just for kicks... |

if you are a US citizen then passport is not required. Foreign national if does not have valid ID as per regulations of the country, should carry valid passport even on domestic flights, sothat in the event of any suspesion you are not taken for a ride. |

Probably what you hear on the news was a story about the new passport requirements for travel to/from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. It is still not required to fly domestically. You will need a government issued id to get through security though. |
