Do you think airlines are a little paranoid as to what people can carry on the aircraft.?

Flying out of the U.S. why can't my luggage be locked??

In case they want to search it and I think its BS because they steal things out of your luggage. They are extremeley paranoid and hassle the wrong people too when screening!!!

Kitty B
Because there are regulations about luggage being randomly checked, and if customs has reasonable cause they can also open your luggage. If you lock it, they'd have to break the lock, which is for some reason illegal. And since having it locked impedes their standard checking, they usually don't want you to have it. I haven't heard of any regulations that say they can't be locked, must be the specific airline you're flying? And they do go through your luggage, especially if you fly through two or more countries- you'll know, since there will be paperwork left in. Also, they don't want you illegally smuggling things. out of country.

Kaska
I'd rather deal with the paranoia than the opposite.

The FlygirL
Safety cannot be compromised. Look at all that has happened. If you don't like the rules, don't fly.

Coasty
The government has lost its single marble it used for a mind. Instead of trying to secure your luggage they want it unlocked so anyone in the back can slip something into it.

statman84032
Hell yes. They just made me throw away tooth paste and a really expensive hair gel.

They said the containers were too big.

There is a fine line between careful and paranoid.

I guess I appreciate the protection but c'mon.

After they took down 4 airplanes, crash them to three buildings and killed so many people, I would be paranoic too, dont you think?

LuluBelle
I think they have a right to be paranoid. You can thank 9/11 for that.

P G
It is not the airlines, it is the government, don't like it, don't fly. It is a different world. Cooperate.

Absolutely !!!!

And because of that, I have curtailed my flying by over 60%.

A time will come when the airlines will learn about the fear they are spreading.... and they cry like babies about their lack of profit !!!!!!
