My first flight was when I was 13 and it was fine. I am now 36 and love to fly several times a year. Are you afraid of the flight itself or the safety of the travel process? Flying is safer than driving in a car and as far as the airport travel process, keep your valuable close and be watchful of those around you. On the plane it's the crews job to keep you safe. Overall its an exciting experience to get someplace so fast, an adventure... |

If you have someone to put you on and someone to meet you it would be ok. I was 15 and flew alone my first trip but I did have people looking out for me. The staff need to know also. |

are you flying internationally?
or just from one state to another?
is there someone to meet you at your destination?
how do your parents or guardian feel about your flying alone?
the airlines usually have certain provisions for minors who are flying alone.
check with the airline you are flying on first.
they would be the most helpful to you.
don't be afraid to fly..
by travelling..you will enrich your world. |

My son flew by himself from the age of 5 until the present. He is 22. If you stay in the airport you will be just fine. Very safe. If you will be changing planes, ask for help. There are usually people waiting by the gate as you deplane to help you find your way. Enjoy your adventure!!!! |

The fear is in the mind... The same mind that will tell you later to do it again (and you'll be eager for it) once you finish this flight successfully.
Think about more important stuff like not forgetting any luggage, your passport, being there in time and not losing your tickets.
That simple :-) |

I am 33 years old. I have flown more that twenty times in my life and I'm still alive. My two older kids have to fly to there dad's every other holiday and ever summer. I have been divorce from there dad sense 2000. They are still alive. Flying is safer than riding in a car. There are move car accidents than there are with air plains. I was two years old when I flew from Germany back to the states. (My dad was in the army.) I would rather fly in an airplain that ride in a car on the free way. |

The counter agent will know you're an unaccompanied minor, and they will tell the flight crew. They'll watch out for you. |

You'll be fine. My brother and I once flew by ourselves when he was 8 and I was 4.... |

All major US airlines have "unaccompanied minor" programs for cases like yours. You have to tell them, in advance, that you're a minor traveling alone. They will give you a special ID tag and keep an eye on you to make sure you're all right. They may go as far as ensuring that you are met by a specified adult when you land.
Each airline's rules about this may be slightly different. I'll give you a pointer to United Airlines' UM program; I'm sure, with a little searching, you can turn up those of other airlines. |
