For the most part, but only because I don't have a choice. With that said, I NEVER pack anything valuable in my checked luggage. If there's anything of value, I'll take it in a carry-on or ship it (insured) with a parcel service.

gromit801
TSA isn't the only one handling your luggage.

If you're worried, get a TSA approved lock for your bags. It is a lock that TSA has a master key to, and they will lock your bag back up if they have to inspect it. So at least if there's a dishonest handler after TSA sees it, you can defeat them.

Always pack your valuables in your carry on bag.

Benzo05
if its within the guidelines, which those are posted then i have no problem. It is not like they will skim from your bag, as you stand there. I mean those people are just doing a job, just like you might do everyday!

ironchain15
NO! I trust nobody but myself with my case.

private_jet_charter
I travel quite a bit and have never had an issue.

unionjackess
no- some of them go through your bags and steal your belongings. They are uneducated luggage handlers with no supervision.

lildude211us
for the most part, yeah. My checked luggage is almost always full of clothes anyways, so yeah... besides, i dont have much of a choice.

dcgirl
I trust the TSA--- they don't really have your bags long enough to steal anything anyway. But I don't trust the airline baggage handlers, and they're the ones controlling your bags for most of the time anyway. I know some of them steal but I'm more worried about my bags getting lost, and I rarely check bags any more.

I am writing this with tons of experience and a lot of thinking.
I have traveled a lot and my bags have been opened most times. Never missed a thing, ever.

I agree with first ans, best not to keep valuables like jewelry and cash. But then, I consider all I carry, valuables.

But I know someone who traveled to the US from India on Air Canada. They went through Customs in Toronto and boarded the Plane to Newark.
When they went to collect their luggage in Newark, they found some baggage missing.
They did get it back another day. It looked OK. But the lady checked and found her jewelry missing. It was quite a loss.

We do not know who took it. But it was missing.
Heard of similar episodes reported by others.

All are not the same.
And some say do not have time too, to do anything.

I trust TSA, but remember there are other people that handle your bags (baggage handlers, porters, airline agents). TSA has a lot of eyes on them so it would be kind of hard. Even the airline agents would not have the time to do it since there are so many people working at the airport with so many eyes and cameras.
