You will need ID to travel, and a passport could serve as a form of ID. But within the US you don't need a passport; you could use a driver's license, probably. |

You DID say you are a U.S. citizen, right? Then you should know that you do not need a passport or ANY other kind of paperwork to travel from one state to another -- no matter what time of the year it is. Of course you will want to carry your driver's license just in case you need ID for something, but that's it. We are a FREE country -- citizens of this fine nation of ours are free to travel from state to state as often as they want. |

You don't need a passport to travel within the United States if you are a citizen.
The laws have changed when it comes to travel to Mexico and Canada. It used to be you only needed a drivers licence and some other form of identification like a birth certificate to travel there. Now you have to have a passport. |
