Yeah, he or she will need a photo ID (like school ID or something) and a permission letter from the parents saying that the child can fly alone.

ID is always a good idea for any aged traveler. The id is needed to make sure they are who they say they are and to make sure the child is not lost or kidnapped (worse case but still have to be carefull). A school ID or state id card would work but make sure to check the airline and see if they have any id requirments.

Beside having an ID, he needs a notarized letter from parents, giving the permission to board the aircraft, if he/she is traveling alone and must notify the airline when booking.
this is for anyone under 18 yrs old.

nope - since 911 you need id
unless you are an infant traveling with your parents...even then many infants' names are on the No Fly List.

get a passport or state id ---it will not hurt you

good luck :)

Under sixteen should be ok. However, it's a good idea to take birth certificate or school ID. For better info, call your specific airline or go to their website.

Yes. If you dont have a driver's license, you will need a state issued ID.
