Well, it probably stays higher than most flight times because the New Year is a big traveling holiday as well. Down times are after New Year but before Easter.
If you are traveling to a warmer climate, anytime May to Sept is better to fly |

Usually down. But that doesnt matter anymore because when the price of jet fuel goes up, so do the tickets. |

It depends on the dates you fly. We were going to fly after Christmas, we wanted to fly the 30th-6th. But it was 100$ cheaper to fly the 31st-7th. It also depends on whether you stay over a weekend or not. |

yeah sometimes even like the DAY after the 'peak winter vacation' weekend, the ticket price can go down...depending on demand and luck |

It really depends upon where you are flying from and to.
Airfares change constantly. |

Think of it this way, its call the Law of Supply and Demand :)
It goes up every year within 30 days of the holidays also.
Unless the airline doesnt book a full plane, then around 3 to 7 days before that airline, Gives their regulars a chance to buy at a Deep Discount Price. Smiles LP
