No.
Tom had it right, until he brought up DB Cooper, who didn't jump from a jumbo and may or may not have died. |

A frequent question here. See below for a good answer. Basically...most people would have no idea how to use the parachutes, there would be complete panic, jumping out of an airplane at high altitude would kill people due to the cold and lack of oxygen. most accidents happen on take off and landing...so jumping would not work |

An airliner's door opens inwards, therefore it's impossible to open it in flight unless depressurization occurs. If an airliner was fliable enough to allow for a controlled depressurization, then there would be little point in jumping out of it. If uncontrolled depressurization occurs, then the passengers likely have a problem a parachute won't help! |

Parachutes would kill you. Moving to fast and the engines would suck you in. |

It would be suicide to jump from a jet, that's why F15's and military aircraft have ejection seats, to clear the pilots from the plane or it would just tear them to pieces on the way out. Your safest bet is to ride the plane down and take your chances on a controlled crash. |

parachute jumping requires training. jumping from a 747 is a fast way to die. thats what happened to db cooper he tried to jump from a jumbo jet , . mythbusters also did a show on things like this. |

most planes do NOT crash in mid-air
they usually crash near the ground
plus you cant get go and wear a parachute you have to be to train to use
it properly
then there no way to open an aircraft door in flight in the first place
and even if there the passenegr will be mostly be sucked into the engines
or get hit by the tail |

It is highly unlikely with the trajectory of descent you will be able to walk to an emergency exit if the plane is going down. Also parachutes add weight to the airplane.
Most plane crashes are survivable. Just know where the emergency exit doors are located. What I do is count the number of seats it takes to reach the emergency exit doors. If there is a lot of smoke in the cabin, you will have to rely on feel to get out. |

even if they provide parachute, not so many people know how to use parachute the right way.. instead if they land safely, they might injured themselves badly, paralyzed maybe..
PEACE =D |

The short answer to this is "NO!" for a great number of practical reasons.

I am not sure because parachute jumping requires training (you have to pull the rip cord). Also, it would be a large expense for airlines to fill a jet with 50 parachutes, parachutes costing lots of money. But still, good idea. |
