have a book or two or a few magazines or a puzzle book to enjoy while you are flying. There will be a movie selection available as well as TV's it will be on the back of each seat. Even take an iPod or MP3 player with you in case you want a certain selection of music or even shows to watch. Meals will be provided on board if you want to call and request a certain one. Drink lots of water until about 1.5/2 hours before you land. Make sure you have a change of clothes with you so you can feel a little refreshed. Take your tolietries like toothbrush, small tube toothpaste, deoderant, etc.. so you can use them during the flight and before you land to freshen up. Keep your seat belt on at all times and your passport in your pocket or where you can get to it easily. Have a pen with you so you can fill out the necessary immigration forms. Have both US and Australian cash on you. Get up and walk around a few times. While sitting rotate your ankles, wiggle your toes, etc... Be mindful of those sitting next to you |

Relax and enjoy the flight. Bring a good book or two, and/or be prepared to rent a portable DVD player on the plane (or bring your own). |

Ok so I admit it, I'm a bit of a chicken when I fly....even though I do it several times a year :) . Here are some helpful tips that keep me relaxed.
1. Pray for a television at your seat. Sounds crazy I know, but be able to flip through channels or watch movies REALLY helps to move the time along, and it keeps your brain engaged so there's no time to be paranoid.
2. I choose a seat nearest the restroom, because if I feel the need to be alone for just a minute, I can easily just go in there.
3. Bring one of those variety puzzle books ... it will keep your brain busy.
4. Bring a travel book about Australia so you can do your research about the areas you will be visiting. 17 hours will provide you some great quiet time to prepare yourself :).
5. Bring loose photos and those small photo albums (the kind the picture slides into). You can start putting your photos in the album - a good way to maximize your free time and keep yourself busy.
6. Pack a progressive relaxation c.d./headset. Google progressive relaxation and you'll be shocked by how awesome it is. It will help to relax your mind and your body. Then you'll be able to drift off to sleep a bit easier.
Best wishes for an incredible journey! |

Make sure you bring some sort of entertainment. Trust me, your gonna need it since its such a long flight. Other than that, you could sleep because that always makes the time pass by faster. You might want to get to the airport a few hours in advance since its an internationa flight. |

Just relax and enjoy the ride, make sure you get up and walk around that flight can be very long and it's important to get up and move around. |

I am 16 and the first time i traveled on a plane i traveled from australia to thailand and the best thing to do when on a long plan trip is stay calm, go for a walk up and down the plane every hour or so because your legs can get a bit sore sitting down for numerous hours at a time. if you like reading books then taking a book is great to keep you busy if you don't like reading a book then magazines are good for a quick read. Drinking water is good to keep you hydrated and help you feeling good while on the plane.
and finaly when you get to australia enjoy your visit because it is a great country.lol
i hope that helps you out.

Relax, don't worry! Take a book or a magazine with you. A puzzle book is also a good alternative. iPod, mp4 players... they all work! And have in mind the TVs on the plane! ;-) |

Dude, you might wanna know that your ears can hurt a little bit sometimes when you're in plane. It's 'cos the air above the surface of the earth is less dense than the air near the surface. I've had those a lot - especially with long flights. I drink a lot to elude them. But there's also some people who don't feel anything so that's normal and going abroad is just a lot of fun. Bring some comic books or an ipod..usually i'm allowed to hear my ipod after 15 minutes of take off..haha i haven't found the reason yet. Mobile phones are a no-no. It should be off. Just take your favourite things along since you are going to sit for hours. And it might not be so comfortable at times. But there's nothing to be worried about actually.. |
