Chewing gum will help with popping your ears b.c. your constantly swallowing. It wont however help with the motion sickness. Go to the store and get some Dramamine. ITs for motion sickenss and works good!

snavelyjm
yes it does it helps work your jaw muscles which in turn relieves the pressure in your ear cavities

yes it does!! and it doesnt have to be gum, you can chew on anything, or if you dont have anything, just open and close ur mouth..

Safÿre
As everyone has said, chewing gum should be handed out to passengers on flights.

My personal experience though, is that you won't need anything when taking off - except maybe Dramamine or something else (if you suffer from motion sickness). Usually, my ears are fine on take-off. It's only the descent that causes me grief. So I have my handy packet of gum ready, and the minute I sense (or see on the monitor) that the plane has started its descent, I pop two (sometimes three) pieces of gum into my mouth. And I don't get rid of the gum until I'm on the ground. But you do need to occasionally clear your ears by pinching your nostrils together and GENTLY forcing air into your nose. You'll feel your eardrums pop as the pressure equalises. Sometimes, pushing against your ears helps too. But if it wasn't for chewing gum, I'd be a nutcase every time we landed.

Tori N
yes it helps. chew 2 or three pieces at the same time.

just open your mouth as if your going to yawn always works for me
