Just put the seat back SLOWLY! This way if someone is using the tray table you don't cause them to spill anything and when you move it back slow they don't notice as much.

KAttyttude
I often get annoyed because my space becomes less of course, but then I have to catch myself and remember that I may need to put my seat back sometime during the trip also (especially if its a long flight)... so I often try and chill out and realize that its happening to everybody, but we're all tired :)

It does annoy me when they do it during mealtimes or when you have a drink - they should be aware of something like that first. Otherwise, even though it can be irritating, people do have a right to put there seats back so I guess we should try not to be annoyed about it

yes, it does and i really can't see how much less uncomfortable it makes the person that is doing it but it certainly makes the person behind more uncomfortable.

zeggy
Yes cos I have less room and they usually do it when I have just got a cup of tea and when they put it back it jolts and spills my tea all over the tray table!!

no - not at all - it's thier right to put thier seat back.

They put thiers back I put mine back the person behind me puts thiers back & everyone is a bit happier.

What does annoy me is when the little $hit behind me spends the entire flight hammering his fists on the back of my chair because he's bored and his stupid parents can't be bothered to stop him.

Nope

By "there" you mean "their". They are 2 completely different words with different meanings and I learned the difference in elementary school.

You mean SEATS..... if you are that pickey, be sure to never use the option of "seat back" on any plane---------- the space is already small and folks just want to be comfortable . So be glad that they are NOT smoking and the travel is much safer than it was in the past........ ignore them and be happy (the air time will be over soon and then you can kick back) life is good....Wally

Like others, it can be annoying at meal time. They usually don't have a clue what it's doing behind them. They even keep it reclined and struggle to lean forward to eat their own meal!
I find asking them (or asking a steward to ask them) to put it upright usually works.

Yep, also I hate screaming kids on the flights and loud mouth gangs giving the flight attendants crap, this is why I have given up flying, anti social people!

Lovely
Not if it's not disturbing me Nikki, however, if the person seek or asked for my permission to do so: i guess i could bear with it.

Thus, i suggest that you push your seat back if you do not have the motion problem as you would not be uncomfortable if both seats are placed likewise. But, if you have motion problem, please, just bear with the person as it is just for a few hour(s) and it's just a simple world.

I do hope this answers your question. So, cheer up Nikki and do not allow it to get at you. Have a wonderful day.

Purple
Yes and no. Everyone puts their seat back infront of me and it always seems to be a rather large person too so I can understand why, they need more room. This makes me put my seat back so I can have more room and then the person behind me does the same and so on down the plane. What's really annoying is when you are at the very back of the plane and you can't put your seat back, then what do you do? I complain! Lol

I think it's worse when there's a nippy child behind you kicking your seat, and their parents don't seem to give a toss!

saf k
yes. there should be option open to us if u want a seat that goes back which should cost more and a seat if u dont which should not cost more

edison
When they do it just for the sake of it then get up & walk around the aircraft I tend to say a little something, but,if the seats were generous for us in the first place (it`s a money thing) all would be Ok?I`m little at 1.93m but for some of those Americans it must be a nightmare!!

Yes and no... yes it does annoy me as I always feel guilty about it and don't bother..I suppose its ok when you have yours reclined but it is a pain when you use your table to do work or put your drinks... where possible i always try to get exit seats to avoid this!

Why would it annoy you? My company pay nearly £4k to fly me to the Middle East in a seat that reclines fully, so if you think I'm going to spend 7 hours upright, then think again missy!

I do raise it out of politeness during the meal service.

lisaero
yes I find it quite annoying as there is so little space anyway and it really doesn't make that much difference when you put it back. I know when I was on a plane last, the entire row in front of me put there seats back for the whole flight and refused to pull them forward when we were eating our meal, very uncomfortable!!!

mariolla oneill
NO BECAUSE THE SEATS COME BACK WHEN YOUR GOING TO HAVE A SLEEP ON A LONG FLIGHT WHEN YOUR ON A SHORT ONE IT DON'T.BOTHER ME MUCH.I TAKE NO NOTICE BECAUSE I'M REALY SMALL LIKE IM BETWEEN A SIZE 8AND A SIZE 10 IT'S ONLY UNCOMFORTABLE FOR THE ONE'S WHO R REALY OVER WEIGHT.ITS LIKE THE FRONT SEAT IS IN YOUR LAP.

Picture it - the lady in front of me (she's sitting on the aisle) puts her seat back & leaves it back for almost a 13 hour flight. Finally had to have a FA talk to her about putting it up on occasion so I could get out for a walk or tinkle break. She acted like she was so put upon - could have slapped her.

Made sure I muscled my way in front of her when the plane landed - took my time pulling my stuff out of the overhead, checking my purse, etc. Also made sure to run ahead of her to the customs line, bathroom, etc. Paybacks are a female dog.

it really dosnt take away from ur seat room because at the angle it reclines back it dosnt take away from ur leg and foot room unless you have enormusly long legs and most people dont have there head leaning forword that is the only way it could or might take away space and if so no it dosnt annoy me i will just put my seat back then wow i have my space back.

Yes, I get secretly pissed off when I'm trying to eat my food, but I'm pretty small so it isn't any big inconvenience. I tend to sit with my feet on the chair anyway, so if I'm not eating it doesn't matter as much.

The whole 3 inches the seat leans back shouldnt bother most people. Im sure you lean your seat back. For a transcontinental flight or over the pond, there is no way Id sit upright for that long. You should complain more about people who are late for the flight who want to complain for their seat being dropped and being forced to sit in a middle seat or the people who think they purchased a window or aisle seat. THAT is more annoying. YOU DONT PURCHASE A SEAT PEOPLE!! You have a reservation on a plane. No guarentee of the seat or assignment. THAT annoys me more than people reclining.

Yes out of courtesy you should raise your seat during meal service, if you are on a full meal service flight. If it is just a beverage service, than no. Position your drink accordingly to prevent spillage. Sometimes you cant lay the seat back gently, the button sticks or the seat does and you have to use some force to push it back, or you are just a dumb *** who doesnt know how to work the thing.

After workin in the airline industry and flying as much as I did, its not the few inches the seat lays back...its the passengers who take advantage of flying. Be on time, get in your seat, only bring 2 carry on items appropriately sized, sit down and behave! Turn off your cell phone when told, whether or not it interferes...who knows..just do what your told and hurry up and get off the plane when we reach the gate.

Thank you, Buh-bye!

No not really because everyone needs to put there sits back or else you are incredibly uncomfortable. Of course there is little room when someone does this, but why would you be so selfish to get annoyed.
