For travel within the US, if you will be carrying your baby in your lap or are getting a special child fare, you may need to show proof of age and could use a birth certificate for that. If your baby has his/her own seat, and isn't getting a special fare, you probably won't need anything. It would be best to check with your airline when you purchase the ticket.

If you are leaving the country, your baby will need a passport.

You should have their birth certificate.

Not unless you are going out of the Country, then no matter what the age you need a passport.

lets dance
there name/s should be mentioned in ur passport..

To leave your own country yes.. The baby must either be on its mothers passport, or have one of its own.
The child must be identifiable... This helps avoid children being abducted by strangers...

it would be on your best advice to get Id for the child more for safty issues or if he was stolen get a child Id photo with finger tip marks . if you mean passport the child should be put on yours .

Your child only needs a notarized birth certificate if you are both U.S. citizens and flying within the U.S.

If you are flying internationally, your baby will need a passport. There were destinations outside the U.S. that didn't require a passport but more and more are changing their minds and requiring it. Be sure to ask if this is the case.

Also, more and more countries are requiring that children have their own separate passport but for some, the child's picture and details can go in the parents' passport. Americans all need a separate passport.

If you are not American, your country might issue an ID card. These are useful and usually free. State DMV offices can issue a picture ID card for a small fee. This isn't required but a good idea.

If you are not travelling with the child's other parent, either have a letter from them saying you have their permission to fly or proof that you have sole custody.

I'm a former Flight Attendant and I fly a lot with my three children. For more totally non-commercial information on this subject, from someone with both practical and professional experience, please visit;

I think they need their own passport.

1.Depends where they are flying to, but I don't think they do if you're just flying across the country. You might want to get an official copy of a birth certificate just incase (it's super cheap at the county clerk's office)

2. If you must take a 14 month old on a plane, can you do all of us fellow flyers a favor and kid the little deer some baby benadryll an hour before boarding? This way his/her ears will stay open which will help alleviate popping, and it will knock them out so that they are less likely to do the constant screaming thing that babies that age tend to do. Trust me, yiou know everyone will be praying that you and the baby aren't sitting near them and then rolling their eyes when you are. We did this until out kids were 4, and it made the flight 100 times easier, and attendants actually thanks us for having such well behaved kids. And our doctor said it's not harmful as long as you don't give them more than the recommended dosage (she's the one who suggested it in the first place).
