I think you pay full price for the seat unless you want them to sit
on your lap. However I believe that My friend chose the seat so
that she could use her car seat because you are only allowed so
many carry ons also with the child. You may want to call the
airlines and get some specifics

If u are going to let your child sit in your lap then u don't have to pay. If u are going to put your child in a seat then u pay but only a few hundred dollars.

A 2-year-old is considered an infant in this situation and you can choose to have him sit in your lap or have his own seat.

Generally a one year old child or younger can can sit on your lap. You will likely have to purchase a seperate seat. Verify with the airline you are planning on flying with or if booking through a travel agent they can check prior to booking your flight.

Any child 24 months and above is required to pay a regular fare. Some airlines, not all, do offer a childs fare at a reduced rate, but you would have to call each airline individually. Go to their websites first and go to their Site Map and find the heading Child's Fares or something like that and they may have a statement regarding their policy as far as fares. But the FAA requires all children 24 months and over be seated in their own seat and preferably in a child restraint device like the car seat you use in your car. On the side is a sticker and somewhere on there it will say it is approved for air travel.
