Ever been treated like a peice of spoiled meat by northwest airlines?

having bougtht tickets on NWA 8 months before flight I have and confirmed seats at the company required 90 days my family has been redistributed through out the aircraft w/o any consideration to our wishes. I'm tired of large corps treating like a peice of meat/ time to boycott NWA may the reds tail bleed red ink with me?
Additional Details
nNo it's time to choose one airline and run the B***ards out of business. there is already a movement for a passengers billl of rights

Yes, I have been mistreated by Northwest, American Airlines, Continental, United, US Air and Southwest. And believe me, the mistreatment (sometimes outright abuse) was far worse than seating. I travel a lot, and by now I've become real mellow while traveling. You kind of have to be, cos things can go wrong anytime and everybody is tired. I can't boycott. I gotta fly :-( I only ask that they get me there. Sometimes you meet very nice airline people too, that go out of their way to help you. Let's not forget them.

Although I have had some positive experiences with NWA, by and large, their disinterest shows. Don't blame the poor, overworked and underpaid ground and inflight staff - blame the management for their strongarm tactics, profit-taking (for the top managers) and disregard for the wellbeing of their employees (note the mechanics who were summarily dismissed when striking for their rights). That sort of treatment creates low morale and thus, indifference when dealing with the paying passengers.

When you "confirm" a seat, you aren't guarenteed that seat. Read the Contract of Carriage. Most of the time, you'll get it, but there will be times where an aircraft is swapped (such as a switch from a DC-9-50 to an A319) or weight and balance (most common on the small commuter planes like the B1900D and Saab 340).

Let me get this straight... all this is about a freaking seat assignment? That's the best you have to complain about?

I fly at least twice a month, sometimes more. I've been treated poorly and I've been treated very well. It's almost impossible to figure out what the cause is. There are so many factors involved. My favorite airline is Delta because I've flown them so often that I have elite status, which has just enough perks to make the experience tolerable.

If you think about it, why should we expect such a high level of service from the airlines? It's like riding the bus. You wait at the bus stop. There is no customer service. Nobody to tell you if the bus is running late or if it is crowded. When the bus pulls up, you get on and if you are lucky you get a seat. We expect more from the airlines because the tickets cost so much, but what we are paying for is to get there fast, not the service.

I fly so often I think I've been mistreated by every major airline at some time or another. Northwest used to be called Northworst

USAir =UScare
Air France=Air Chance
TWA=The Worst Airline

I can't remember the rest...

By Northwest, no. By Delta, yes! But I think all airlines are the same these days. It's no longer about the travel experience. It's all about filling the seats and making the money.

One thing that people fail to recognize is that airlines often have last minute aircraft swaps. For instance, you may be booked to fly on a 737. At the last minute, there is an unplanned aircraft change, and the airline decides to switch to a 727 or even a slightly different model of 737 (737-100 for example). Even though to passengers, it's the same plane (same # of seats, etc.), to the airline it's completely different, and all the seating assignments are re-entered into the computer. Usually this means that people automatically are seated at random as the computer cannot tell an individual from a group. Unless you check in hours early, chances are the seats won't be together. The only way to sit together unfortunately is if people are nice enough to move around to accomodate a group traveling together. I worked for Continental and saw this happen many times. It's not just NWA. Just one of those glitches in the system that really suck and make it a mess for everyone. That's one of the reasons I personally prefer Southwest. There's no seat assignments. If you check in early enough, you can board together and find your own seats wherever you like.

Sometimes unforseen events happen that cancel previous plans. Weather events can cancel a flight. People need to be rebooked, etc.

I am pretty sure that if you have reserved seats, then you should have a case, something must have happened beyond their control to cause such an event, i.e. Employee Error. Most likely, they will reimburse you for any events that happen beyond their control.

Boycott is a harsh word and should not be used just because you and your family had different seats. They have to deal with all kinds of problems and making them all work together is an enormous undertaking. Instead of trying to make a problem worse than what it is already, try to make it better.
