It only takes 5 minutes to get into the air roughly.
Nothing ever happens when your taking off most accidents happen when you land
i think i might have just put you off landing lol
don't worry about it enjoy it i feel as if it is the best bit of the journey, just think about the destination
im flying in 4 days and looking forward to landing/taking off way better than being in the air for ages! |

Irrational fears are difficult to overcome. Your brain "knows" that won't happen (or isn't likely to happen), but your emotions get in the way. Many things are this way. Phobias abound. No real solution other than sucking it up. |

Nothing to worry about. Sit back relax and enjoy the ride. |

I flew to Italy recently and everything was fine. Take-off IS really short, just relax pretend its a ride! That's what i do because it isn't my favourtie part of the journey either. |

think positive the take off is an essential part of a great time for you
when you board tell the cabin crew that you are afraid they deal with this sort of things everyday and willbe able to calm any worries you have |

Don't worry about it. The laws of physics get an aeroplane airborne, and these laws are unbreakable. |

look at the statistics..the fact that more people die in car crashes than planes shows something. just relax and have fun, the take off is the best part. |

I am exactly the same!! once i'm up in the air i'm fine and l love the landing cos i know that my trauma is coming to an end. I feel the same about take-off and really stress about the plane falling back down like its too heavy. I have flown abroad every year for the last 10 years and it has gradually became easier. the best advice i was given was to focus on the end result, so i just think about my holiday at the end of the flight, or getting home and seeing all my family again. It may sound a bit corny, but positive thinking really does help. Good Luck! |

I'm scared of that part too, I do fine with everything else. I always close my shade and take deep breaths a lot. Maybe if I'm with someone try and talk to them or listen to music. Breathing is the most important thing for me, I also chew gum..I hate gum but on take offs it calms me down and helps with ears popping |

belive me it will be just fine, nothing bad can happen really :) the pilots have been trained for years honey |

Just take a deep breath when you get on the plane, its ok these pilots fly every single day of their lives. The only real way to overcome this, is to just go on a plane. The only way to overcome fear is to face fear itself... |

Just close your eyes and pretend that your just going uphill really fast in a car. get some headphones and crank them, so you won't hear the jet engines. |

if you can get your hands on some noise canceling headphones then close your eyes and crank up the volume
if not just grab a pillow or something to squeeze on
i have been on more flights than i can remember and it is nothing to be worried of .. take off and landing are over in 20 seconds. |

Take-off is the most fun part of the flight! It's like a quick roller coaster, except even safer. One minute you're on the ground, and then you lift slowly.
It's not going to fall back down. It's an irrational fear, really, and your brain knows it won't happen. Just breathe deeply and focus on something else, it only takes one minute.
(However, you can't listen to your iPod. During take-off and landing, all electronic devices are supposed to be off, I believe.) |

Its a free world. Don't fly if you don't want to |

When you're waiting to board the plane, try to find a window in the terminal where you can watch planes taking off. You will see how the nose rises . Watch as the plane begins to climb. It's amazing how steep the climb angle is, but that's the way it is. When you board, try to get a window seat. Now instead of being afraid, you can start to enjoy the experience. Having seen all those planes lift off, you are now prepared to accept the fact that you are in a normal situation occurring all over the world at that same time. |

I hate it too. It's the feeling that you get that I hate, the same as when you land, or in an elevator. I fly between Australia and Canada twice a year, and I recommend talking to the person beside you. Have them distract you, for me, I hardly notice it. Else I hyperventilate and cry ^^; |

Personally I have been on a plane several times and have discovered that if you just suck a hard bolled sweet your ears won't hurt. Then all you must do is lie back, relax, close your eyes and imagine you are where ever you are going. That is how I conquered my first fear of flying.
It does sound cheesy but it really works. |

Why do you fear the take-offs............It's the landing that I get nervous about |

There is nothing wrong with air travel.
There is nothing wrong with fear of air travel.
But remember this, flying is the safest form of travel. As far as i can remember, no plane has done this. because if the engines fail during take off, the pilot simply lands the plane again. even with no engines a plane can fly. if you make a (decent) paper plane and throw it, it will glide gently to earth. there is nothing to be scared of.
don't worry |

im sure tons of ppl will say its safer then a car. thas true, but almolst everyone i know hates takeoffs. including me. sorry i cant help =) |

it's an irrational fear that has no basis of truth.. the thrust of the engine exceeds the gravitational force so you will be completely fine. if you still have anxieties either drink a good amonnt of alcohol or take a sleeping pill so you can just fall asleep during the flight. |

Just remember that it only lasts a few seconds. Try to relax, just breathe and think of something else, turn some music on...like an ipod...it will block out the sound. |
