I wish I had the URL to share with you now, but I found a website that gave statistics for all the air fatalities in the past 10 years. The overwhelming majority of the fatal air crashes occur on small planes with propellers. The jets that have occasionally crashed have overwhelmingly been on airlines based in developing countries. Since 2002, there have only been two fatal crashes involving a large passenger jet from a major US airline. Of those, one only killed somebody on the ground when the plane went off the runway in Chicago. Considering the huge number of flights operating out of the United States, this is an amazingly good safety record. Not only that, but the largest planes are the most comfortable and are least affected by turbulence. And you basically have to use a large jet to go across the ocean. So all in all, you have nothing to worry about. I would be more concerned about choosing a flight on a nice new A330 with personal entertainment systems so you can while away the hours watching your choice of movies, playing video games, etc.

With Continental you have nothing to fear. i was flying from LAX TO HOU one day a couple years back and i was terrified it was my first flight. But into the flight the flight attendants actually served food, yes on domestic flights!!, and put a movie and I was satisfied I forgot I was scared. It was really good go do not be scared.

long distance flying is not bad all you need to do is go to sleep basically.. it is the easiest way to make it through a long flight.. than bring some way to keep yourself occupied usually I just watch the movies that are playing

I have always been terrified of flying, that is up until I started flying from Denver, CO to Europe every summer. The most dangerous part of flying is the take-off and landing, and it is still extremely, extremely unlikely that anything would go wrong. Once you are up in the air, you will probably forget you're even on a plane. My usual flight (denver to rome, or denver to frankfurt) is about eleven hours and is completely calm for 90% of the time. You are like a million times more likely to die in a car accident every day that you drive your car then you are to get in a plane crash. So don't worry!

there are some things which can help you with that fear of flying.
Many many people fly on airlines each year and over all its very safe.

i would suggest going to talk to a counselor to get help with the fear, if it is preventing you from doing what it is you want to do
good luck
have a nice day

I live in hosuton and Continental is based here so i fly with them all the time. they are really good and upper end for sure so you should be fine. Your actuall much safer in a plane then in a car they just seem more scary.

Aww i love to fly.
but we fly with british airlines and they are AMAZING!!.
they have great leg room and good food and cool t.v's. and awsome service. and i sit in the coach which u would think sucks but it doesnt.
but dont be afraid. just takes pills too knock u out and comfortable clothes and drink water and stay calm. listening to music makes me feel goood.
I've road on planes mostly my whole life going from cali to england. and im only sixteen. but just chew gum too and if ur stomach hurts drink 7up.
but i hope you have fun!

If your not afraid of driving in a car you shouldn't be afraid of being in an airplane my suggestion would be to bring a book for the long flight and to keep your attention away from the flight.

The take-off and landing will probably be the scariest, but when you're in the air it's usually pretty smooth (depending on the weather) I've flown overseas but it was not with Continental, it was Lufthansa and Air France. The only main problem with long flights is the stiffness but other than that if you have a nice book or an MP3 player I'm sure you'll be fine. I was afraid to fly overseas too, but once we got in the air, I felt okay.

Have fun in Israel!

i have flown in planes a lot. not overseas but yeah. at first its sorta nerve-wracking but its really fun
