First of all, there are not going to be any cheap flights due to the distance involved. The lowest fare I found from London to Adelaide was $1792 USD on Lufthansa via Frankfort and Singapore. If you are going to Adelaide, then you might as well fly there. Australia is the size of all of Europe or the USA, and it is a long walk from Sydney to Adelaide.

Flights at this time will be generally more expensive, because it's over Christmas. If you do fly into a different airport than you want to be at - you can look at domestic airlines, you can sometimes find pretty cheap deals flying within Australian cities. Just type 'cheap flights UK to Australia' in google, and go through the websites.

First thing is don't fly quantas, lol. But joking aside, I cant give you precise prices, however, there are cheaper options out there. If there is a chance to fly to a airport a little further away from your destination that is cheaper then this would probably be the best answer. The bus journeys are generally quite cheap.

Your dates are some of the most expensive times to travel to Australia. If you can be flexible with your dates, you may find the moving your travel to fly before 10th Dec should give you a much cheaper rate.

Sydney and Perth are normally the cheaper airports to fly into, purely because of frequency of flights and distance from UK respectively
